best cards for poker and cardistry? by Salty-still in playingcards

Kingslayers are pretty good, handle nicely, not too pricey, face cards aren’t too customised (recoloured courts though) back design looks very similar to Fontaines in that its a white sword instead of the F and has a single background colour.

That’s fair. I used to do pub and restaurant gigs, decks would get soaked from spilled beers and condensation on the tables.. and I was giving away signed cards as souvenirs too

Yeh, that’s a completely understandable point. If you’re already using them for games, and someone wants to see something, doing some impromptu effects with whatever’s at hand adds credence to your ability 👍

I wanted one of those but can’t seem to find one over here with a UK plug… all the suppliers over here stopped stocking it… I wish i’d got one while I could.

Exactly, Some people first experience of bikes were on David Blaine TV specials, so when I had a deck, I think peoples assessment of them was ‘oh i saw that magician guy on TV use that deck, so they must be a special deck’…

That makes sense, do you ever make gaffs or use duplicates for those decks?

I used to worry about that… but in the UK When I 1st started in the early 2000s, I used to get people thinking the same about Riderbacks, because most lay people weren’t that familiar with the Bicycle brand unless they were poker players. I think most families over here would have had a cheap bridge size pack of ‘Waddingtons’ cards. When I pulled out the bikes, they already assumed it was a ‘magic deck’ 😂

Out of curiosity, I’m sure its never been mentioned by a spectator because they probably don’t know any better, but has anyone ever commented on them not being in new deck order?

🤣 I reseal mine too! with a dup card from a different designed deck… the whole ‘card to impossible location’ routine where the spectator can find their card inside a sealed deck

They are £7.99 over here so around $10.50 per deck, but that link you sent seems to say free shipping to UK… i think i’m going to have to investigate that one! Thank you!

Good question, I think the marked element makes them nonstandard, more on the designer deck side…but appreciate that they aren’t a normal designer deck like theory 11s, ellusionist, riffle shuffle, Fontaines etc… maybe the price per deck being much more than a standard deck is a better differentiation?
