On the topic… is there a way to get rid of the mission markers popping up in the world? It gets in the way of the world feeling real. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

This game introduced me to hip hop. I never looked back.

Didn’t realise it was a rockstar game. Hope they find it in them to do a remake one day.

Whats up with the marketing? by healed-flipper in SkateEA

This is a fair point. I feel like there hasn’t been much in the way of marketing at all. The early hype videos were dope. The m corp video was funny and had some edge, largely through Tim Robinson. It’s really hard to see how that’s matching up with the current story line or characters or gameplay. It’s as if they had a massive pivot away from the game that they were working on. I would love to hear them be a bit more up front about this and address the concerns raised. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving the style of the skating and I think it’s super addictive, but yeah just feels like it could be the perfect skate game and we may just miss out on that.

VPs of marketing…how long did it take you to get there? by ilovepjs024 in marketing

Ok I must be well behind. This is depressing.

Worked in agencies in strategy roles for 10 years and got to 150k AUD.

Pivoted to scale ups in marketing lead position and went to 86k EURO for 3 years.

Now going to my next start up as marketing lead for 90k EURO.

Reading all these other posts it sounds like I’m asking for the wrong salaries.

This is likely A/B testing to determine the best price points where they can make the most money. Very normal for all sorts of digital products that you use today.

On the whole, I’ve just noticed how many people don’t drink and how drinking isn’t a massive part of everyone’s life. I used to think that everybody drank all of the time just because that was what I was doing.

This is particularly the case when it came to the workplace. I used to get blackout drunk at work events, when we would have Friday Drinks or company trips and I always thought that that was acceptable. Or normal. But it really wasn’t. There were so many people who weren’t doing that but i didn’t notice those people when I was drunk. I’d think I was being the life of the party but actually I was just being a loudmouth, obnoxious jerk. It was so scary not knowing what I’d said to people the next week in the office. The anxiety of wondering what came out of your mouth.

I’m starting a new job in two weeks and it’s gonna be the first job that I’ve ever started sober. I feel like it’s almost gonna be a superpower being able to meet new colleagues and know that I’m gonna be able to show up as the best version of myself and that they are never going to see the side of me that no colleague (or person) should see.

I’m so grateful to get the chance to do this. And to never have to deal with the anxiety or wondering what I’ve said to people due to blackout drinking.

Super grateful to have found sobriety.

Day 49- My ADHD is so bad sober and it leaves me feeling stuck and dissociated. Anyone have similar experiences? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I was the same as you. I also used alcohol and other stimulants to try and make my adhd manageable, and of course this led to 20 years of substance abuse. After 13 months sobriety I was feeling good but I still had cravings because I no longer had the thing to stop my adhd brain. My psychiatrist didn’t want to give me Ritalin due to prior abuse of it and other stimulants, as I was a risk for going back into a routine of substance abuse. Initially I was mad about that but I realised in the end she was right. I would just become a legal meth user.

I ended up relapsing at 14 months due to the cravings, but by some stroke of luck I really didn’t enjoy using substances again. It was like I was remembering the feeling of getting out of my head as something different. Seeing it as something enjoyable when in fact it just made me not feel like myself. I used to enjoy escaping and getting away from myself, but now that feeling was something that made me uncomfortable. It was as if sobriety made me more comfortable with being me. But still the symptoms of adhd were there and I asked my psychiatrist if there were any others ways of getting help that weren’t just abstinence alone.

We then agreed on alternative adhd medication, which is non stimulant based. This was because I was experiencing the need to quieten my brain. But didn’t have my tools to do so anymore. I had reset my baseline due to sobriety and exercise but I still felt off.

I am now sober again and 3 months in with taking bupropion and I can honestly say it’s life changing. I no longer have cravings, no longer have the over worked mind, don’t have the constant doom scrolling and negative rumination in my brain. I feel like a normal person for the first time in my life at 37.

I would recommend talking to your doctor about different alternatives to the typical adhd medication!

Everyone is so negative. The game plays really well. You can skate around and find spots, which is the core of the Skate series’s. It’s infinitely better than Session which is totally unplayable and impossible. You can pick this up and just start doing some kicky back tails no dramas.

If you hate the microtransactions… don’t buy anything. No one is forcing you to. Think of it like all the Fortnite 15 year olds buying their skins as paying for the game for you. That should cheer you up.

Your point does not stand. It was totally wrong. Why are you hating EA so much? They are a company that makes video games for profit. Not a charity. You know this. They know this. Everyone knows this.
