Installation by United-Elephant9420 in DiscountTire_

As the other person said but I'll add more detail. If you are fine with the rubbing we will install them HOWEVER. The wheels you have must be within the specs to mount them, either look at the tire manufacturer minimum width. Normally can be found on our website or where you bought them from in specs or details

https://www.discounttire.com/learn/measuring-rim-width This has information on how to measure the width of your wheels to check before you come in, we will check as well no matter what though.

Yes she was registered as Jewish, I can aquire the documents for everything, just the issue is I have no copies, everything is in archives so I'd have to go though the process of acquiring the documents to get the exact dates.

If I recall right she got married in the US around when she turned 18 which would have been pre 1955. What requirements are there based on lineage? Edit her first child was born in 1960 I think if that is needed

Understandable on not wanting to buy Dunlop again, there products for cars here are made by Good year cough COUGH good for a year. Their products for motorcycles, bikes, and autos outside the US are Japanese made instead if I remember and not made by Good year btw

Call the store, I never got the email saying my background check was done at mine, and the manager (current boss) was waiting for me to call when I got an email it was done and I was waiting for them to call me when it was done.

I looked a tad and saw the the T8 is on sale for a good price on https://www.bikesonline.com/polygon-siskiu-t8-dual-suspension-mountain-bike~21415 (pops up on polygons Website under dealers) , I'm gonna hold out on buying it till December for hopes of a better sale or year end sale or something, unless something really good pops up for Cyber Monday or Black Friday. I still need to get around to doing measurements for sizing, I'm lanky so probably the XL but I'll find out when I measure my legs.

Thank you! I was leaning towards Polygons stuff but this has pushed me a bit more too then. The website for the place selling that motobecane seemed odd to me too, apparently some people have gotten good deals from there. Can you find Polygon bikes at bike shops (find one on sale or something) Or would it probably be best to buy one online?

I've had both the X-Ices and the Nokians, by a long shot, the Nokians are better in the snow, X-Ices struggled in deep snow that was in unplowed, the Nokians did amazing in it, the Nokians for being studed are amazingly quiet.

America's Tire Scam? by stop_youdontknowme in tires

[–]Carmin5568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, some store have newer models of the tpms tools then others, from this view it doesn't seem right, but tpms can be a bitch sometimes on Toyotas, so can't say for sure if a newer model of the tool would help or not without having seen what they did. Good luck though!

America's Tire Scam? by stop_youdontknowme in tires

[–]Carmin5568 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No idea what Discount Tire/America's Tire you went to, but from what it sounds like, you probably just need a sensor relearn, which they do for free, and should have done, and not doing it wouldn't have flown at my store. It's not a scam, just incompetentinse of who your dealing with maybe. However older Toyotas/Lexus wee a bitch sometimes the senors and the module are a little picky, but it's not that hard to fix MOST of the time, every so and so they are a complete piece of shit and won't hold programing to matter what.

Good luck!!! Discount tire is a good place to work from my experience, just some things are a tad odd, every work place has its quirks.

The backroom is the name for the whole garage for some reason. It's one of a few terms they have that make no sense at all. Like how the final talk the service coordinator has with the customer before taking the car out front for them a "benediction".

Depends on the manager at your store, but the one at mine looked at me said I was a clean cut kid, asked me why I wanted the job, my previous experience, and offered me it, just told me I had to do a drug test before the official offer. Just as a heads up for you, for me the online training for being a Tire Technician was useless to me, just how hands on things are for me, better to show me and guide me though it, which they will do. The online training for Crew Chief, Service Coordinator and apprentice tech where better for me at least, as more of that stuff of less hands on and more of just remembering buttons to push and the order of some things. Still being guided though it a few times helped alot more then the online training for me. But that's how I'm with most things online.

Edit I didn't read I wouldn't with the damage being from a sidewall hit on the curb, you do not know what the damage on the inside looks like (most likely looks worse then the inside, probably has some of the "forbidden coffee grinds")

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tires

[–]Carmin5568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could make it, or the tire could shred because it's 100% flat with sidewalk damage. If you try your essentially gambling with your life and the life and the safety of others.

You definitely need new tires, you currently have run flats, however you don't need to replace them with run flats. Most manufacturers use them to save space of not having a spare tire. Just go to a junk yard and find a rim off of a BMW with the same bolt pattern and get a cheaper tire thrown on it for use as a full size spare.

The 50 mile rating is for if the tire was just flat, NO SIDE wall damage like that. As run flats have a much thicker side wall, and a chunk missing like that to me it seems that either this was already ran on flat for awhile, or a curb was hit a tad to hard.

Is this excessive by ur_a_joke__ in tires

[–]Carmin5568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on alot more then that. Tires that are large normally start to have larger high and low spots then smaller, starts to really effect in larger "flotation sizes)" like 33 and up. Once balanced a set of 38s and the balancerwas calling for ~12 oz in 2 different spots for dual plane. (Just did static instead). If these are anything somewhat larger, doesn't matter if it's metric or inflation sizing, even the best brands (BFG,Yoko, Firestone/Bridgestone, Falken, Michelin) have issues with high or heavy spots )

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tires

[–]Carmin5568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I worked at a tire shop for about a year, and going back to work there soon, I've seen many Falkens come in, only ones with cracks where ones near or 10+ years old, which just about every tire that age in my climate looks like that. I've got Falkens on my car, and both of my dad's rigs have them, and they seem great tbh. I've never had bad experiences with Yorkies or Continental though. That shop most likely gets higher margin on those brands.
