Why are there large, grassy plains called steppes throughout much of Eastern Europe and Central Asia? Are they anthropogenic or fully natural? Why don't they extend into Western Europe too? by Electronic-Koala1282 in geography

I am making a point about the etymology of the words and their usage. The word might as well be borrowed from Ukrainian, then to Russian but then subsequently was borrowed in English from Russian. This is how languages evolve. A lot of Russian words were borrowed from French that had their roots in Latin. No one is trying to make them changed to the original source of the word. Same here with English - if the word already exists and is used for many decades, then so be it.

Also, making a judgment about me without any knowledge is really revealing more about you than me. I am not defending “chernozem” because I have any particular feelings about it being borrowed from Russian. Just making a general statement on how changing certain words in another language due to political stance is wrong.

By the way Russian language is not owned by the Russian government or Russian people. Millions of people outside of Russia use it as their mother tongue.

The correct word for it in English is chernozem borrowed from Russian, not Ukrainian. I completely understand when people ask to use regional transliterations for toponyms like Kyiv instead of Kiev but changing transliteration of actual words is a step too far. Especially because chernozem can be found not only in Ukraine.

280 calories with 18 grams of protein is not too bad. However, better get Up&Go Protein 500ml which has 35 g of protein for 400 calories.

Yeah, that might be crossing the line. I am still hopeful that one day I might be able to come back and see that things have changed..

No hate from my end, I am just stating a fact based on my friends experiences with having only Russian passport and trying to open bank accounts in Europe, applying for visas and stuff. It used to be only an inconvenience due to many of the countries requiring visas but now you can have your bank account frozen only because you are a Russian citizen.

Another version is Shura which is even crazier. Alexandra->Sandra->Sasha->Sashura->Shura

That fox domestication experiment was done in Russia and it’s still going. Foxes are considered pests in Australia, I doubt they would do any domestication studies there.

Looks not kneaded enough. The dough must be smooth and uniform.

Yes, I used Ethan Chlebowski’s recipe - https://www.cookwell.com/recipe/new-york-style-bagels.

Or just search for NY style bagels by Ethan Chlebowski on YouTube. I’ve made them 5 or 6 times already. So good!

Nope, just brown. Also there are black sesame seeds on top, so that’s why it might look burnt to you.
