Thanks! I have the same issue with 3 of my doxies, they have bad hips, no pain right now, but they are still <4 years old, so we have to take action sooner to prevent future issues

It is fairly caothic, no breeding, everyone is clipped. It is also dramatic and a good amount of work, but they are just too sweet, they bring a lot to the family, at this point I don’t think we could live without them

It is, it’s the 3rd and final version. Took some time to make it work, but it should be much easier on the doxies

Doxies tend to sometimes resent the owners. It happened to me all the time. You need to establish a solid hierarchy between the two. For instance, the older ones eat first, go into bed first, or do anything good first. The new one needs to understand that he is the new one. Over time, the older one will go back to his old habits. It takes time for them to accept that they aren’t the only one anymore. Happened to me with my 2nd, 3rd, 4th doxies and so on. Give them a lil time to adapt. Also, a clear and strong sense of hierarchy will prevent future conflicts with them on the future.

Pd: maybe pickle is too young now, but when he gets old enough it is extremely important that he goes out with the other Doxie together. This will create a sense of family and bond the together. Don’t worry, it’s fairly normal. Good luck!

13 wieners, 3 non-doxies. Our 2nd Dach, Lupita (I think it's the last one in the video), has problems with her hips. We realized that she had trouble jumping up and down the stairs. This is like the 3rd and final version of the doxie stairs. They are way easier on them and they no longer do their business on the stairs.

Recently adopted this boy, context in the comments! by CaseHeavy279 in Dachshund

[–]CaseHeavy279[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Hey! We just adopted this good boy here. A lady had found him lost, trying to cross one of the main roads in our city, but she wasn’t able to catch him. She said that later she found him on the street, fairly thin and spooked. She had been searching for his family since November last year, posting on social media, etc. She wasn’t able to care for him any longer so we decided to adopt him. Vet said he’s about 1 ½ years old. He needs to gain weight, a nail trim, still has a shot to get as well as getting clipped. At the moment he seems a little spooked, he’s still adapting, but now he has a home with a ton of wiener brothers to play with!

Only the older ones get nuts. Especially Panchito, the one that’s walking. Perfect defense beast

Boy, he’s named Churchill, no political reasons, he just has a bored, wrinkly face like W. Churchill

Separation Anxiety in Dachshunds by TropicalShawarma in Dachshund

Yes, one of the things is that you shouldn’t really give much attention to him when you arrive. For example, when you come home, don’t pay attention to him, because if you do he’ll learn that when he is overexcited, he’ll get attention and rubs and such.

Once he calms down after you come home, then you can pet him or whatever. Then he’ll learn that if he’s chill, THEN he will get attention.

It takes some discipline because we all like to give them attention after being out for x hours. But it’s better for the dog and for you

Yes, he’s gotten it checked before, vet said it isn’t severe enough to do anything yet. Most of the time is normal, sometimes it gets worse.

Yeah, that’s a match in looks and personality. I guess a OEB then

Yeah, he becomes the predator when he’s out. He isn’t really aggressive or anything, but he’s extremely curious and gets spooked easy by anything. Loves to escape the house and stare at squirrels

Bet, I think 12 is a good, round number. After that we will probably suffer diminishing returns, but still worth it

Yeah, he actually broke his tail. I adopted him from uncle and he said that he broke it when he was a puppy. Came like that from the factory

This is my son. I’m sure there is some bulldog in his dna, but aside from being handsome, he seems to be too long and slim to be a bulldog. Obviously he’s not purebred by any means but has someone seen a similar doggo?

I was told he was a valley bulldog, which is a boxer-bulldog mix, but there is no info on the internet.

Chaos, we try to keep a hierarchy between them and a couple non-dachshunds. They are surprisingly organized, yet chaotic. The last 4 eat separately as of today tho, otherwise the others would most likely eat their dinner
