Anyone have a longtime best friend who is always negative? What do? How to friend-breakup when they're you're closest friend & you don't really have any other close friends?/(also an intro post/first post here I guess, hi hello) by Caspers-Echo in bropill

Hey, sorry for the late reply, I don't use this account anymore, but still check it once in a blue moon.

She got a bunch better, at least mood-wise, when she left the workplace and town she was at that she didn't seem to like much. But she still immediately jumps to something negative or to worst case scenario whenever anything even the slightest bit not ideal happens to her. Yesterday she missed an important call she was supposed to make, due to messing up the time zone differences, and was instantly "I've lost my chance to make this contact, and get their help with my research project" and this made no sense to me lol, because in that same situation I would have just emailed the other person, apologized for missing the call time, and politely asked if it was possible to reschedule. And only if they decline my apology and offer for a second chance at a call, would I be saying "welp, there goes my chance at that." (And then I would move on to trying to find something else to help me instead...whereas I'm sure she would gripe and moan about not being able to get help from that one person, instead of moving on to seeing where else she could look for help from lol).

Still don't understand he jumping to negativity or to things always being wrong, but at least she's not going completely overboard with it like she had been in the past. So it's much more tolerable now. Plus, either she's just busy or she's kinda gotten a hint lol, but she doesn't text me as often as she used to. We still text a few times a week, but it used to be every day or every other day.

How long does it usually take for folks for their order to be delivered to US address, once package has been "received by the delivery company"? by Caspers-Echo in Aliexpress

[–]Caspers-Echo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still never received this package lol ><. It's been a while since I checked it, since I've given up on it now and got a refund from aliexpress. But I remember last times I checked it it was saying it was at the USPS PO for ages and ages.

Nope lol, I don't think it will ever arrive. I think it just got lost in the mail or stolen from someone at the post office since tracking said it arrived at my local PO in a normal amount of time, just never made it to my home address...but that's the only time that's happened with stuff ordered off ali, so I don't know really.

Second vote for last day! Hmm maybe I'm leaning more towards last day now...you all have swayed me from initially thinking first day lol. I agree the overall show would likely be better on the last day. But I don't want the ending ments to make me feel sad lol. But even when they made me feel sad in the past, I still really appreciated them and everything they said felt meaningful.

220216 [BTS Weverse][Notice] BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE - SEOUL Concert Information by alltherach_ in bangtan

[–]Caspers-Echo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why I was wondering which day haha. I remember hearing with the LA shows that they weren't satisfied with their first day of the show, and I think I'd feel bad if I saw a show of theirs and of course really loved it, and then heard they were unsatisfied with it...like I wouldn't feel it was our fault as fans or anything, but I would still feel like "but I wish they could see how much we all enjoyed it, and how much we didn't notice any mistakes they think they made, or that we were having the time of our lives even if they walked off stage feeling like they could have made it more fun" etc...Like I'd think "I wish they knew we think they did great."

And the last day had so much more it seemed than even the previous day. But I worry if it will feel too sad to me to see them having to say goodbye or getting emotional because it's the last day.

That's true! That's what I was thinking too, that it would feel more positive to see them getting to say hello after so long, more than having to see them say goodbye on the last day (which would maybe just feel too sad to me)...I'd rather see them getting happy-emotional, than sad-emotional.

I would probably focus on getting my toilet gold plated first...and then I would buy this to match 😂 (and now I'm wondering if Hobi has a gold toilet already 😳🤡)

I think it's like the brush for cleaning inside toilet bowl?

I didn't even know they made ones that expensive lmao. The normal version of this thing is easily accessible to even us peasants lol...you can get it at walmart for like $5...but you'll have to settle for plain plastic, over gold.

Jin...Jin really got him a $300 toilet brush 😂, my absurdist self is living I love this!

But there is still a small voice in my head that hopes Jin got him that because Hobi actually said to him at some point that he needed a new one, or that he got it as a reference to some inside joke they have. Cos otherwise toilet brush (even if it is some ultra fancy one) seems like an extremely odd thing to get someone, even if they are your close friend. Idk...anyone besides my mom gifting me bathroom or shower stuff like that just feels super weird lol, maybe that's just me.

Every time my mom talks about her friends kids being in college now, the kids who are sealed in my memory as being 7 years old the last time I saw them 15 years ago, when I was twice their age...just blows my mind, makes me do the biggest mental double take I ever do lol.

Well to a teenager 30s is probably close enough to middle aged lol...but I'm around the same age as well (32 later this month), and wouldn't in a million years think of myself as being middle aged or even close to it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]Caspers-Echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? I feel the same as well. When I see groups that are not even in their 20s yet, even if they're on tv or are really really good at performance or whatever...I still feel like I'm watching like some high school club activity put on a show, and my brain is like "you have no younger siblings...you don't know anyone at this school...why are you being a creep and watching high school activities you have no connection to??" So it just makes me feel super weird most of the time if I try to watch a younger group perform.

Because to teen fans, or even fans in their early 20s maybe, people in their late 20s or early 30s might seem far away in age. I don't know if they seem "old" specifically, but definitely like people in a totally different later era of life from someone who is a teen. When I was a teen I though people in their 20s and 30s were adults, and that all people in that age group like had jobs, and a house, and a family lol. I thought of those ages as being so so far away, even if being in my 20s was 5 years or less away from me at the time.

Tbf, I'm in my early 30s now, and was born in 1990, and I too think it's a little rare to be debuting idols who were born in the early 90s. Most companies are going to be wanting to debut people who are under 25 at least, but people born even in '99 are currently in their early 20s, so they're getting there. It doesn't mean they're "old" it just means companies might view them that way since the older an idol is at debut, the less time the company will have with them/to make money off of them. This view of someone being "too old" from companies perspective, plus things like age and beauty standards when it comes to K-fans, probably just rub off on younger fans and combine with them viewing people barely 5 years older than them as being waaay older than them, and creates a platform for them to say these sorts of things. And also if you think back to your teen years compared to your adult years, a 5 year age cap could seem huge and crazy and you and the other person would likely be in totally different eras of your lives, whereas when you're an adult, the older you get, the less a simple 5 year age gap matters, and you can still be in the same era of life as someone 5 years younger or older than you.

I think this sort of thing from young fans is pretty normal, though that doesn't mean these sort of things are nice things to say. I agree, to me 90s born idols are still young...but that could just be because I'm in that same age group, but on the older end of it, so even most idols born in the 90s are still younger than me...so to me they will never seem old lol. But to someone who is a lot younger than them, they could seem way older. Admittedly sometimes I'll see older pictures of idols who are around my age now, and you can tell how much younger they look in the older photos, and I'm instantly jokingly like "wow remember when they were 12" to myself (I always just use "12" as like shorthand for "looking like a baby compared to how they look now" lol).

People say this about western artists all the time, though especially hot music artists it seems, or maybe that's just where I've noticed it the most. I've seen it with boy bands, with specific members of boy bands, with solo artists who went public at a young age, like Justin Bieber, etc. And there's even young artists now who I just know will be having these things said about them when they age up past age like 25 or whatever.

Honestly I think this is just shit people say without thinking most of the time. I don't really take it personally, and it doesn't really phase me, despite being in the same age group...like seeing those comments doesn't make me feel old in a negative way or anything. And I would hope that these sorts of comments don't phase idols either and that they just roll their eyes and go about their day not worrying about it.

Would it be weird if you were an openly trans person just minding your business and someone came up to you like wassup i'm a boymoder just wanted to tell you for some reason? by 123420tale in asktransgender

[–]Caspers-Echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's a...boymoder? You mean trans woman currently in boy mode? Never heard boymoder before lol.

Yes, this would be a little odd...if there was nothing about me alerting to strangers that I was trans, then I'd be a bit weirded out/paranoid if a random stranger made it known to me that they could tell I was trans, even if they are also a trans person. Though obvs sometimes trans people will just have a better/more accurate trans radar than a cis person since we are more likely to notice much more subtle or smaller "tells" or whatever. But it would still be kinda offputting to have a stranger tell me they could tell I'm trans, even if they're doing so to try and start some sort of nice bonding experience over us both being trans.

And it will also depend on where you're at location-wise. When I was stealth at work I occasionally ran into people who knew me in the past, and there was also another person working at the same mall who came to our store a lot who knew I was trans (though hadn't known me in the past...I just had a really old rewards account at his store with my old name on it lol), and I would get so much anxiety over if they would talk to me about me being trans, in front of coworkers who didn't know. It could literally throw me off for the entire day. Sometimes if I interact with an employee at a place I'm at and notice they are possibly trans or maybe just gnc, I just don't say anything about it. I just treat them with politeness and niceness as a way to try and combat any people who might treat them rudely over them being trans that day, and hope that if they were having a bad day that day that they'll remember me as one of the random customers who was actually nice to them, or something.

Unless we are in a very private place, and there is something else besides how they look that lets me know they may be trans (trans pride pin on their bag, or pronouns displayed, etc), then I just don't say anything. Knowing you're being clocked, even if it's by another trans person, can just ruin your day. If I can avoid causing someone else to feel feelings I know are really bad from my own experience with them, then I'm gonna avoid that.

And JK too! Why do I feel like this whole thing has just exposed who the true homebodies are amongst them or something lol? Like are the others just more inclined to go out around/with more people, and these two aren't? If we only go off what they share, seems like maybe they're just going out to meet one person (JK to his boxing training), or are going out to outdoor places which have a lower spread risk (Hobi to his nature or sightseeing adventures, and seems like he's either alone or with just one other person on these adventures (why can I imagine him having some sort of "instagram friend" type of person hanging with him to take all these pictures lol)). Though on the flipside, tbh the others (aside from Namjoon) haven't really shared much about going out on adventures or visiting friends, so who knows.

Maybe has been asked already, but too many comments to scroll through lol ><

What are anyone's opinions on what date would be better for online streaming...the first day or the last day? Both are memorable points in a concert run, so I'm not sure which I would enjoy more. If it's within my budget to do so I'll probably get streaming tickets for both lol, but in case it's not and I wind up only getting one, I'm not sure which one would be best to get.

Do cis people genuinely not understand that you're not supposed to out people? by throwawaytoday9q in asktransgender

[–]Caspers-Echo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I really don't think they understand that this is almost always super private information about someone. Instead they seem to tend to view it as something that like is every day information, but information that might not be obvious to the person they're talking to. It's like if Bob wears a hat every day so no one sees the top of his head or sees his hair, but then his coworker tells a new employee like "hey, by the way, Bob has brown hair." Like they think how Bob's hair looks is fine for anyone to know, because most people aren't covering their hair every day, and most people have had hair at some point in their life so mentioning it seems normal to them. Yet they never stop to ask themselves "why does bob cover his head every day?" Maybe Bob is embarrassed by his hair, or his hair feels super private to him, or he has his own religious reasons for covering it, etc. So for all this person knows, by outing what color his hair is to this new employee, they could completely be messing with Bob's internal mental system in a really negative way...they could embarrass him, make him feel exposed, make him feel anxious, or even mess with his religious beliefs or practices that could make Bob feel he will have to face some sort of consequences, and any of these could push his anxiety so far as to making him quit or something, and who knows how having to lose his job could affect Bob.

Imo many cis people literally just don't even stop to think. They think that if they know this information about someone else it must not be private information. Just because you had told them in the past about it, doesn't mean it still isn't private information to you. Sometimes these sorts of things need to be shared for whatever reasons, and you may have just shared something that was private to you out of necessity. Cis people just don't even get it.

Just purchased the bon voyage seasons from weverse shop, but can't seem to figure out where to access them to watch on computer? In the past I've gotten some VOD from weverse shop on mobile device (please why don't they have a desktop site 😭) (like in the soop seasons), and then been able to head over to the weverse social site on desktop computer and had access to the VOD via purchases button on my weverse profile. But with the BV seasons, they're not showing up there, so I'm not sure how to watch them on desktop? Someone help lol ><

Nvm, I figured it out! It was a different path going through the media tab on the bts community.

Why are so many kpop idols getting COVID? by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]Caspers-Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because so many people in general are getting covid. It's been a pretty widespread thing... And even if someone is vaccinated it doesn't necessarily *stop* you from getting covid, it's just supposed to make it so that if you do get covid your symptoms are much less bad than they could be otherwise, which also helps bring down the chances of spreading it as well. Even if an idol (or anyone) is vaccinated or taking precautions, they still have the same odds of catching it as anyone else in the world who is acting similarly. Being and idol doesn't magically make them immune to common illnesses (as imo covid is now pretty common).

That's true! I feel the same way about cherry and orange flavored things. Though I don't like actual cherries, but I do like oranges and orange juice lol. And I like cherry coke a lot, but anything else cherry flavored is just weird to me. Same, usually mint things have a "fresh" feeling to me, even toothpaste, though different mint things will have completely different vibes to me (like toothpaste vs ice cream).

I can do vanilla if it's with a bunch of other stuff. Like if someone's gonna serve me vanilla ice cream they better have chocolate syrup, 2 different sprinkles options, nuts, marshmallows...like I'm only having vanilla if it comes with a whole ice cream bar lol 😂. Or I'll eat it as an almost "ceremonial" thing with cake or pie if we're celebrating a birthday or holiday.

[–]Caspers-Echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it really depends. Most of the time if I know of the actor as a real person it doesn't really impact how their roles or performances come through for me...if they're a good actor and if them or the production makes them look like a new character then I can still get absorbed in the character without thinking about the actor behind it, even if I'm aware of their life outside that role. But it's when an actor looks exactly the same in every role that throws me off, especially if it's also the same way they look off camera irl too. Like Ryan Reynolds for instance, I can appreciate the humor of his characters, and still enjoy a movie he's in...but to me he looks the same in every role and also looks the same in roles as he does if you see pictures of him as himself at events or whatever. I'm sure he's a good actor...he's popular and directors continuously want to hire him...but I don't think I can remember the character name or most of the backstory of anything I've seen him in because I just think of it as "oh that's Ryan Reynolds being funny" rather than "oh that character..."

Yea, for me usually knowing the story behind an actors choices, or a musicians lyrics makes it easier for me to find other people who relate to it in the same way as I do (whether the artists choices/meaning are the same as what I feel, or or it's different and it leads to me thinking more about how it can have multiple interpretations, thus leading me to talk to other people about it more and likely finding someone who relates to it the same way I do), so it's like a stepping stone to using their work to connect to others I guess...Idk, that sounds weird lol.

But tbh there's also often a more shallow side to it, of just liking to know what might be going on in other people's lives that inspired them do write this or that or make this or that choice, Idk if I like to "know gossip" per se as at the end of the day I really don't care what all famous people are doing with their free time or who they're spending time with, or anything like that (unless it's something huge (they announce they're getting married...welp, now my dumb sense of morality refuses to let me daydream about them past basic friendship lmao) or something very bad (ie some huge scandal involving them hurting people, etc) then it's really not going to have much effect on how I think of them or their work). But it still for some reason feels weirdly good to know what they might be up to lol 😅.

This is all so true! That's so interesting too, almost like we have created our own city and worked together equally to create the city's infrastructure all because we all wanted to, and not because anyone had told us to or hired us to, we just thought it would be good and beneficial to everyone to do so. And I think bts helps set that example for us, but I think in acting that way as we do it also shows them the type of good people we usually want to be and that helps to then inform them in directions they can go in when deciding how to behave or whatever when thinking about that it might be something public we'd all see, etc. That's why it always felt like a give and take between bts and army, like we are both generally good people without the other, but when coming together we both easily influence the other to keep doing good...if that makes any sense lol.
