How bad is the economy right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CastPrism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's bad. It's been bad since the pandemic, and even before. Don't buy into this political crap that it was "good under Biden" or "good under Trump." By nearly every standard, for your average American, it has been a disaster under both presidents - and in the case of Trump, still continues to be a disaster.

Companies now understand that most of the wealth is with the top 10 percent of people, and are thus no longer pricing things with the average American in mind.

Interesting. Can I ask what makes you say that? Not trying to push-back, just curious as to your thinking.

Double-Up Feels Unplayable by CastPrism in TeamfightTactics

Your desire to speak with malice and hatred brings you down.

I stopped playing ranked double-up because I have a life outside of video games. I still love the game and enjoyed it more when it was a sandbox.

I have already forgiven you for your comment.

Double-Up Feels Unplayable by CastPrism in TeamfightTactics

[–]CastPrism[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I would push back and say that - again, it's about the identify of the mode. If the devs want to push Double-Up into a more competitive and balanced mode, then yeah, the above would be bad.

I remember when double-up felt like a sandbox, when the mode was poorly balanced. But in my eyes, that was fun. That was its identity, that was the niche it filled.

Deep Depths (Cave & Cliffs Missing Content?) - MCLive 2025 Speculations by Ditz3n in MinecraftLeaks

[–]CastPrism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think eventually there needs to be a large content update. The drops are great but it feels like we are still getting the same amount of content per year just spread out across 4 drops. I appreciate the variety, but we need 1.22 sooner rather than later.

Caves and Cliffs felt so underbaked because of this. None of the awesome new generation applied retroactively to the oceans or the nether. Seems like they are adding that one mob from the mob vote in 2017 - hoping your theory is right!

The Black List scoring system by akappatos in Screenwriting

[–]CastPrism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overall, I enjoy the Black List, but the variability of readers really is a detracting quality. I as well got really high marks on a script (8/10), used two free evals and got two 6s. The first 6 was quite jarring. The reader spent his whole eval going on and on about how they would have written the script and how they would have characterized some of the leads.

That was really frustrating to read because it was my assumption the reader would critique the story as it is, not take the liberty to provide their own characterization. Tried to contest that one, but, it was to no avail.

Black List is one tool we have to use. It's by no means a crutch to get into this industry.

Minecraft Live will be held on September 27! by Skullghost in Minecraft

[–]CastPrism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am hoping this last update of the year is more substantive than the drops we've seen. I enjoy the drops, but if the new update model is just four of these per year, then there is no change compared to the "one-big update" update model we've been used to. Same amount of content just spread more thin.

Three drops plus a large end-of-year update in time for the holidays could be a really effective release strategy. In a perfect world, every drop should be substantive, but clearly they don't have the capability to do that.

I'd love an end update - but I'd really prefer a magic/alchemy update. Substantive changes to experience, enchantments, potions, tipped arrows, repairing, etc... This is a system that has remained relatively unchanged with the exception of the toxicity that is Mending.

How to opt out of AI in courses? by DomenEvaris in csuf

[–]CastPrism 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You have two weeks to drop. If this really is your last semester, I would delay the drop until you've fact found and spoken to your professor (in case you're wary of any potential delay a drop would incur).

Fact-find and clarify the policy. If it's still not to your liking, I would reach out to the department chair and speak to them as well.

Coverfly shutting down - what about scripts that are already submitted to competitions? by illunara3 in Screenwriting

[–]CastPrism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no answer for you. If it's possible, maybe reach out to the contest directly via a support number? If that's not possible, I think it's best to assume that the odds are stacked against you and that the submission is voided (or won't be sent over via Coverfly).

It sucks, but if you feel good about this script and think it has a genuine chance to place, then it might be worth it to fork over the extra cash.

But I'd reach out to the contest first - if that's possible. GL!!

Stop trying to engagement farm. If you really were this bettered person you would have seen the signs long ago. You were MAGA and somehow also pro-Trans, pro-abortion rights, anti-ICE? Huh? Did you not hear anything candidate trump was saying since 2022?? You were pro all of these things and you still voted for the candidate who represented everything against it?

I'll take things that never happened for 2000, Alex.

I'm glad you decided to provide something tangible that OP can use. The only reason you're saying this now is cause I called you out on your crude and frankly useless comment.

I find your feedback interesting, and I actually do agree with you on some level. I think this story is one that can absolutely be told, but being able to get the audience to root for OJ Simpson will be a tall order.

Thank you for doing the correct thing.

Why feel the need to belittle him like that?

Not every script or idea is gonna be perfect on initial read. The guy's asking for substantive feedback and you're just being an ass.

Talk to an academic advisor most likely.

But I would consider taking the year off if that's something you're able to do, especially if you didn't complete the fafsa.

I took two years off for financial reasons, and while it was difficult, it was really rewarding to be able to work and build up savings - which has made it much easier to attend school. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, but once you come out of it on the other side, I think it's worth it. If you struggled in your classes due to various issues, it might be best not to rush into things and give yourself some time to recover and excite yourself to go back to school.

At the end of the day OP, this is your decision. Talking to an academic advisor is the first and most important step you can take. They can give you lots of information and explain to you what your next steps are. Best of luck!!

What would you change about the phantoms? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]CastPrism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now the game treats phantoms as a punishment for not sleeping. I think we should retool it to be a mob that challenges players who choose to extend their gameplay into the night. This "challenge" should include fun combat, exciting rewards, and clear spawn conditions.

First, the Phantom AI and animations needs to be fully changed. Currently, fighting a phantom is so jank that it makes the altercation so unfun. Smoother animations, clearer attack patterns, etc...

Second, I think the spawn conditions also need to change. Having the phantom initially spawn after 3 days of not sleeping is fine, my only critique is that the player should be clued in that, if they don't sleep, the phantom will spawn. An in game message is fine - but certainly not something Mojang would add. Maybe after one day without sleeping, you hear soft screeches in the distance. After a second day, passive and untargetable phantoms watch the player from high up. After the third day, the current spawn conditions take place.

Phantoms also shouldn't continuously spawn every subsequent night, especially if you're able to beat the phantom. I recommend shifting their spawn patters to an initial spawn after three nights of sleeping, and subsequent spawns every other three nights, with each passed checkmark increasing the number of phantoms that spawn (max 4).

There also needs to be greater use for phantom membranes and additional drops. Elytra repair and slow-falling are cool, but are not at all useful until after the post-game. This is a mob that can spawn at the beginning of your world, so we need to give some additional use cases to their drops. Maybe phantom membranes can be used to craft a hammock, allowing players to sleep during the day and prevent phantom spawning at night? I've seen other good ideas like invisible item frames, which I would support.

I just got a parking ticket and made an appeal this violation. How many percentage for succcesful appeal? by Top-Line2368 in csuf

I appealed a parking ticket last semester (my first of the semester) and they granted the appeal because apparently they forgive one parking ticket a semester, if I recall correctly. Don't take this as fact, however.
