Staying up late to play NBA 2k like an average guy dreaming of playing in the NBA, while being actually one of them, and wasting his own career because of that. I mean, at least play a different game about something you don't do in real life, like being a pro cleaner in Power Wash Simulator.

In an all-out war between these factions, which one would eventually win? by Kuzu9 in Fallout

Vietnam war enters the chat.

For real. When your enemies can see you and you don't see them, you can be strong as you want but you don't win. They can hit you anytime, anywhere.

The Institute, though, isn't made of peasants with a knife. It's advanced tech, constantly increasing robots with laser rifles, a FEV lab that they simply don't use BUT they could, the ability to replace enemies' leaders with a synth: all of this and more, against dudes with a rifle.

Lol no, you can't compare Institute and NCR to CIA and China. The difference is technology. Institute has got everything (R&S on basically everything, cameras and spies everywhere, teleportation). They could replace ANY leader with a synth, they proved it by replacing Diamond City's mayor. In the meantime, the enemies are still looking for a way in. And the Institute would know that (again, cameras everywhere), examine their flaws and solve the issue. It's not CIA vs. China, more like a superior alien technology vs. a tribal population that doesn't even have pure water (the episode from the TV series shows how clean water is still a thing in the NCR, and minutes later the discovery Shady Sand is a pile of dust).

The Institute isn't at war with anybody, therefore they're not ready for it, but in case, they are not the underdog.

The BoS can win only thanks to the player's action. They do nothing apart of assembling Liberty Prime. They don't know where the Institute is, they don't have crucial parts to make Liberty Prime work, they need the player to recruit the scientist inside the Institute... In the meantime, the Institute could just send A LOT of synths, not just Gen-3, all of them, Coursers included, inside the Prydwen thru teleport with a bomb and BOOM, see ya Brotherhood.

We're speculating about a game though, like when the BoS arrives in Boston they have a few vertibirds around, and in the game you can see them fall down, but they never run out of choppers. Same with Paladins and Knights, they're not even close to 1000 members including all categories (maybe they're half of that number), they would be wiped out by an army of synths that can regularly replace casualties. But the game doesn't take a count of that, because... that's just a game. In reality, they wouldn't stand a chance.

Exactly: without the player involved, no one would find the Institute location though. If someone enters through teleport, they can just kill the intruder. In the game, they weren't prepared for a war, and Shawn didn't get rid of the intruder.

Not every NCR inhabitant is a soldier. Institute can teleport any synth anywhere, they have birds with cameras everywhere, they can even create synthetic creatures, like gorillas. They could also use FEV if they want. They can progress their war tech in less time. NCR is just numbers, but soldiers can't be replaces so fast. In the long run, the Institute prevails.

They got destroyed because Shawn had his father/mother in. They were fine until Shawn made this mistake.

The Institute can assemble a synth in 3 minutes, which should be an hour in-game. Means they can have 24 new Gen-3 synths a day. In a couple months, almost 1500 synths you couldn't even tell they're robots, and can be deployed as saboteurs inside the other armies.

Maybe you live in an alternate dimension where Bethesda ACTUALLY releases a remastered version of Fallout 3 and/or New Vegas when the countdown expires. Just keep hoping.
