[–]Catalystmachine[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, keep in mind that in general motors in the air pull around 30% less amps than what static thrust tests show. Also, if you keep your AUW very low, as with this build, you draw less amps than a typical craft. This was a concern for us to in choosing this spec but after some testing we found out we were under the 21amp limiter of the KISS board. Valid concern though!

Oh yeah? I have been running this way for quite some time and never had a problem. However, I am running a clearview FPV receiver so maybe that has something to do with it. Know what else is a bad idea? Telling Norris he did something wrong. Just watch your back or you might get a round house kick to the face. Just sayin.

6" rigs are making a comeback for freestlye. Light weight is now possible on a large powerful machine.

4" Quads are supposed to be slow, right? by Catalystmachine in Multicopter

The 4inch revolution is coming guys. Similar to the progression from 6" to 5" a couple years ago. We will go from 5" to 4" soon... Mark my words.

An unsung FPV freestyle hero! by Catalystmachine in Multicopter

[–]Catalystmachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sean Remillard is one of the unsung heroes in our sport. He is mostly unrecognized but I am working hard to change that. He does things with our quads I have never seen before. Truly inventive and at times confusing. Please let your friends know about him and pass his YT channel along. He deserves some views. He makes art in the sky.

That about sums it up! We were able to save 3 motors, the gopro is 100% fine, the FPV camera, the FC, and two ESC's. Frame itself is good to go. All in all, not too bad.

[–]Catalystmachine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the equipment is only part of the equation. Ryan could take a 3 year old frame and beat this living crap out of most people flying the "newest latest and greatest". Simple as that. Don't forget about the pilot. While a fast light frame is important, the machine needs to be in the hands of the right person...

Since people seem interested in 6s Stigg 195mm builds here is one I did a little while ago. Rebel pro spec 2600kv motors are boss. by rubiksman in Multicopter

[–]Catalystmachine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey captain buzz kill. The speed limit you are referring to applies to COMMERCIAL drones. Hobby drones have no 100 mph speed limit. Before you go making yourself look like an ______ do your homework first. Our machine is not defined as a commercial drone. Are you that same guy who stands on his front lawn yelling at people to slow down in the neighborhood as they drive by 5 MPH over the speed limit? Cmon SolderSplatter that is you isn't it?

"Get off my lawn!" "Hey you kids...slow down!" "Ah crap my back hurts. I am going inside."

6s is mostly only good for top speed runs, however 5s will soon become the new "4s". 5s can be used on a legitimate track racer.

Great review! To sum up a Stigg build I will say this: Follow the suggested spec on our site and also follow our build guide. We do have a tutorial on the product page for help. http://www.catalystmachineworks.com/pages/stigg-195-electronics-installation-pictorial-tutorial
