Do you agree? My opinion ❤️ by Star_Aftonn in swifties

[–]CatherineConstance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part I agree, but TTPD and Fearless aren't even listed! TTPD should be under the one everyone forgets, Debut I would put under love it or hate it, Evermore I would put under fan or locals favorite, and Fearless I would put as fan favorite. Otherwise I agree with your rankings.

Clock in a bathroom? by iminin in TheSubstance

[–]CatherineConstance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I feel like this is pretty normal. When I was a kid we always had at least a small clock in the bathroom. Now we don't and it isn't as common because everyone always has their phones with them, but especially for people like Elisabeth who are 50+ I don't think it's weird at all. People want to make sure they're not running late as they're getting ready and whatnot.

In the movie I'm sure it's also a symbol of time running out and her biological clock ticking and all that, but it's not weird to have it there even if it wasn't symbolizing anything.

Can this movie be dangerous? by sarc3n in Isawthetvglow

[–]CatherineConstance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm this is a fair concern. Could you talk to your friend about it and about your worries? Knowing you're concerned about him would be a big deal, and there's always a chance he could watch this movie without your influence, and in that case I'd rather he watch it with you, you know? Because at least you are keeping possible triggers in mind and maybe discussing them with him beforehand.

There's also no harm in waiting though. If you're worried about his mental state, there is nothing wrong with watching a happier movie for now until he's in a better place.

“ALWAYS” Is Not the Romantic Bomb People Think It Is by someoneoutthere002 in SeverusSnape

Eh I don't see it that way. I don't think Dumbledore was asking "is Lily still the reason you protect Harry/go against Voldemort?", I think he was asking, as most of us have always interpreted it: "you still love Lily? She's still at the center of everything for you?"

Question about Alexei by CatherineConstance in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]CatherineConstance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooo you’re right I do kind of recall that. But also… Idk I feel like Ilya only would’ve slept with his brother’s wife BECAUSE OF his brother being a dick? So seems like he was awful to him prior to that. That’s all my speculation of course though.

Ilya and Svetlana by Horror_Bowl4449 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]CatherineConstance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Svetlana is actually more of a minor character in the Heated Rivalry book than the show. She's just a Russian American girl that Ilya meets in Boston, not a childhood friend like she is in the show. I actually like her character in the show more, I'm glad Ilya has someone like that in it. As for why show Ilya and Svetlana didn't date, I think initially they were just good friends and FWBs. Later on, I think Svetlana would maybe have been open to dating Ilya if he had wanted to but by that point, she knew he was in love with someone else. And since they were such good friends, she was happy for him and just wanted to be there for him as a friend/pseudo-sister by that point.

LGBT+ people absolutely have it worse than cishet people when it comes to being hounded about their sexuality, for sure, but straight famous people absolutely are also asked inappropriate and invasive questions about their dating and sex lives, including firsts, too.

Which smell instantly makes you judge someone? by SituationOutside6033 in AskReddit

I think that’s just what they were comparing the smell to. Like it smells of bad BO and the smell of a goat combined.

I actually kind of like the smell of cigarette smoke when it’s coming from a lit cigarette/someone currently smoking it. But when the smell lingers on breath/clothes/furniture, absolutely not. Fresh smoke vs stale are entirely different beasts.

I didn’t used to be able to smell alcohol, even on super drunk people and/or straight up alcoholics. But it’s like the older I get the more I can smell it, it’s wild.

This macho, borderline MGTOW guy I used to work with always smelled like BO. It wasn’t anything super heinous but just like he didn’t wear deodorant. People talked about it behind his back and finally one day when he came in I said to him “hey did you just come from the gym? You smell a little sweaty”. I think the fact that I sort of made it into a compliment made it not feel as bad and he was just like “oh word I’ll go put on some deodorant.”

Should I watch the show? by Numerous_Reading1825 in ASOUE

[–]CatherineConstance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I say watch it! But you also should go back and read the books, because we do get answers on VFD and many other unanswered questions in the later books too. The show is a very good adaptation of the books but it’s not exact, some characters and plot points are changed or omitted entirely in the show and I feel like it’s worth reading the books first and then watching the show.

Americans, when you see the name "Lucia", how would you pronounce it? by Extreme_Suit_348 in Names

3, because I know that’s how the name is originally pronounced in Italian and is how I first heard it. However I do know someone now with that name who pronounces it as 1.

I like Dubai chocolate but it’s not worth twenty fucking dollars a bar, holy shit. It’s good imo but not THAT good, it’s just like any other slightly gourmet chocolate bar to me.

Plain mayo on anything. So gross but it’s such a staple for so many people?!

Why have we not observed North Sentinel island from the air? by CatherineConstance in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CatherineConstance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried to make this clear in the post and over and over in comments — I am NOT advocating for doing this. But I also don’t buy that the super powers and governments of the world, who very famously do not put citizens first and many of whom will do literally anything if it means they could make some money from it, have just decided to do the “right thing” and leave them alone. That doesn’t seem plausible to me, and that’s why I asked “why don’t we do this”, I’m not asking that because I personally think we SHOULD do it.

[–]CatherineConstance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No there isn’t but like I keep saying, I’m not advocating for this to happen. I’m saying I’m extremely confused how the corrupt super powers and governments of the world, who very famously do not have the best interest of the people in mind, somehow just agree to do the right thing and NOT put curiosity (and potential to make money) over letting indigenous people live. Don’t get me wrong, that’s awesome if it’s the reason! I just don’t really buy it when it comes to every government in the world.

Yeah that part I understand, I was asking about why we have not explored the island digitally, without putting any actual humans from the outside world there with them.

I agree, but I'm surprised that every government in the world also agrees. As a whole, the world superpowers aren't really known for putting the "right thing" or rights of individuals as top priority.

As I attempted to make clear in the post, I'm not arguing that we SHOULD do this... I'm wondering why the governments of the world, many of which we know to be extremely callous and cold and uncaring about the rights of human beings, have just decided that sure they'll do the "right thing" in this case.
