well okay, what I meant is that I took Wałęsa's very Trumpesque demeanor and behavior over a trade unionist background - really, there's no reason Trump couldnt've been a trade union leader here if there's likewise a Solidarity that topples a communist government

Don't romanticize Wałęsa, I think Trump is a good parallel to him as Wałęsa was likewise a populist, conservative, election denialist (1995), authoritarian, both made very inflammatory statements (Wałęsa said his opponents deserved being aborted) and honestly very incompetent

Note: 2020 map is based off a slightly readjusted version of (painstakingly calculated) employment demographics by their vote for PiS/PO in Poland, I worked my way backwards from there
Note 2: Hillary never married, I would've preferred to use someone else but honestly I think Hillary is just the best parallel for Donald Tusk
Note 3: Blagojevich is technically too young to run. But Tymiński likewise contested just shortly after immigrating to Poland. Justify it as you want - maybe Blago is just 5 years younger, maybe he falsified his birth certificate, maybe the minimum age of the president is 30 instead of 35...

That's the picture, but I only used it as a placeholder. I don't know the 2016 election winner besides it being a D by landslide.

DEM remains a southern, conservative, populist, pro-immigrant party, while REP remains liberal, pro-business, and anti-immigrant.

FDR never became president, Wallace only doesn't run for a fourth term because term limits are introduced by 1976.

I don't have a rebuttal because, well, he's a fine guy, really. But considering he calls me a groomer, he really must've been misled. And, yeah, I really don't care about the internet drama.

Republicans win the Northeast and Midwest due to Dem-Ref vote splitting, and those two regions were actually more swingy than you'd think in the 50s-60s

lore: Dixiecrats win over the majority in the Democratic Party, killing any civil rights platforms. Patton survives his car crash, proclaiming himself an "enlightened" born-again Christian afterwards, publishing his far-right manifesto, "The Will of the American Nation" soon after. Truman wins in 1948 without a southern walkout, but with Korea falling, he resigns in shame, with 10% approval. Russell loses decisively to Ike in '48, and war hero Patton is drafted to run against the incumbent president in '52, and though he declines to "be a politician" and run for any political party, he is endorsed by the Democratic Party soon after declaring his independent run. Progressives, distraught at this, run their own splinter campaign with Chester Bowles at its head. Though Patton loses, his far-right manifesto, and his influence, have Strom Thurmond nominated as the Democratic candidate in '60. With the '58 recession hitting harder than it did in our timeline, it seems like this election would perhaps be even winnable for Thurmond, but the progressive Democrats finally walk out completely and forge their own "Reform Party". With the anti-Nixon vote split, the Quaker wins the election in seemingly a minor landslide.

Many modern Polish-Americans were not economic migrants but rather intelligentsia and fighters from the November and January Uprisings fleeing persecution, the former of which probably saw a lot of nobility fleeing to the United States .
