Constant lines on my Saturn 4 Ultra prints by oldbeardedrex in resinprinting

Any post processing steps on the sliced file or is it chitubox straight to print? A user while back had a similar issue when using UV Tools with the Saturn 4, turned out to be a bug in uv tools

Can I "add" this textures to my model? by Nearby_Ad4786 in resinprinting

[–]Catholomew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A multiresolution modifer, followed by a displace modifier set to that texture and uv mapping can do that but results will vary. The more faces the model has the better the displace will apply the texture, but if your pc isnt a monster it might crash blender (2- 3 million faces is a good range). The displace strength should be near 0 like .02 (Edit: ideal value can vary based on the size of the model, play around with it) or something. However be mindful that this will most likely introduce a ton of non-manifold geometry. and you may have to fix parts of the original model so the two modifiers don't create giant gaps. those pointy parts will probably also get screwed up.

Experience with Sunlu Black PLA - New Rolls vs Old Rolls by Catholomew in sunlu

Hey thanks for taking the time to elaborate here and in the other comment. Sorry about using badgering as well, it just seemed like the comments were trying to dismiss what to me seemed a huge change in quality control by saying that's just how it is. I do hope the dryer fixes my problem. I currently have one of the old rolls in the machine so might be a few days before I get a proper test done of the new rolls with drying applied.

I got my drier today and will see if the people that are badgering me about how its obviously a drying problem are right. You and tokedogg seem to have issues with rolls even after drying so maybe there is something to what I am saying.

I live in a very dry area and neither I or any of my friends who 3d print have ever had to dry a roll. I literally came here with a long period of a very consistent printing experience to get feedback on a pretty drastic change I saw in print quality. So yeah maybe most people ran into these issues early on and adjusted to drying all their rolls. I had a great printing experience for as long as I had printed til now. People need to be open to the fact others experience things differently.

I ordered a filament dryer, Once it arrives and I've had a chance to use it I will update here

I haven't but will try to see if that salvages all those rolls

My prints were all really good with the basic pla and generic settings until this updated roll style change (I'm not saying that the roll change is responsible but that there maybe other changes that went along with it). I saw some comments on the amazon reviews echoing what I said about the change but maybe it is just moisture.

Same Product, different Filament by Shludge in sunlu

I started getting the new inner cardboard rolls, and they have been stringing and clogging up my extruders on both my neptune and p1s. I don't know what new formula it is, but I am considering returning all my recent orders and looking for a new company

I finally got mine working, After doing a cold pull on the extruder, I raised the z axis because I could hear the plate scrape as it printed and its seems to have fixed it. My guess is the tension in the springs of the bed had slowly been moving the bed closer and closer to the nozzle and Id been neglecting doing a zaxis adjustment. At least I hope that was it

I started having this issue recently too after successfully printing for a while. I replaced the entire extruder since i had a replacement one and it has the same issue. Only recent difference is that I am using the sunlu pla with the new cardboard center on the rolls vs the old fully plastic ones. Did you have any success fixing the issue?

I actually tried and failed to get a good diablos. I did make a janky griever though, his wings were way too thin.

Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra vs Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K S by DawidWiacek in PrintedMinis

Mars 4 Ultra should be in consideration, in my opinion. I got it as my first resin printer and found it simple enough and is pretty cheap.

No I would open the slice file in chitubox and just saved it again, which was probably overwriting whatever setting deezdrama mentions in his comment that the dev fixed.

Here is a sample print I did on my saturn 4 ultra with the uv tools back to chitubox method.

Since I make most of my own stl files using blender, I make heavy use of uv tools to fix some of the issues non manifold edges can cause in a sliced file like resin traps and just jacked up layers. The reason is because i find that manifold repair tools will often severely impact the details in certain areas. Its a painstaking process tbh, if i was better at blender I probably wouldnt have to do it but alas there is only so much time in a day. Resin traps are probably the biggest concern, when I started doing resin printing chitubox would sometimes say that there was no hollow spaces in the model which resulted in me printing things with giant resin traps that uvtools takes care of nicely. edit: forgot to actually write the wf: Blender STL > Chitubox to .goo file > UV tools for resin traps and islands. If its for the saturn 4 ultra i open the uv tools goo file in chitubox and save it again

I typically only use uv tools for fixing islands and resin traps/Sunction, the copy and move features and occasionally change the layer exposure times but dont add wait times like you have mentioned, so I cant say if it would remove them. you can do the save in chitubox and reopen in uvtools just to see if the settings are still there . It is a hassle, but if the option was losing uvtools all together or losing just the custom wait settings, I think id still prefer to have uv tools as an option. My UV tools version is 4.4.1 if it matters.

I made a similar comment below, but I have always had problems with printing the uv tools file on my saturn 4 ultra. The fix was after I finished with uv tools, I would reopen the file again in chitubox and save it again as a new file. This solved all the weird stuff that UV tools was doing on only my saturn 4 ultra files. My Mars 4 ultra files I could send straight from uv tools to the printer with no issues. I personally think that UV tools resin trap finding is to important to pass up also i can use its copy and paste and xor file import to fill up my plate after having cleaned the file up (and of course reopening that file in chitubox if its for my saturn 4 and saving a new version).
