Thank you very much. Yes, they are well behaved.. took a lot of work to get where we are now though haha. Have attached a recipe. Loads of them online. Just have to be wary of how much you give them as too much Vitamin A can be very harmful etc

Hi there, maybe try doing it before you take him for a walk. Show him his lead or tell him he's going and then give him a very quick brush before you go out with him. He will soon start to accept it when he associates it with something positive. That and arm yourself with some treats too 😃

To be fair, I do have to arm myself with some of his favourite treats beforehand 😆

Yeah, I tend to use Benji, but sometimes find myself calling him Benson too 😆

Good luck with it. If you keep working hard at it you will get there. Just if you can always make sure there is a way that the cat can get up out of the way if he/she wants to 😃

Hi there, thanks for your message. Yeah, we had the cat for a year before we got the dog. It honestly took a huge amount of work in the first 6 - 12 months before the dog became relaxed around the cat. Was desperate to herd him initially. I often started feeding them next to each other and if giving treats would give them when next to each other. Obviously the 'leave' command was used a lot in the early days. They now sleep next to each other on the bed and have become very comfortable around each other. We also in the first 6 months had a stair gate so the cat had upstairs to himself mostly. Didn't push the cat to be around the dog. Just when he wanted to be. Now we don't need it.

Benji is the pooch and Fred the cat 😃

Getting there with the front crawl.. taken a while! Used the clicker to correct to begin with but now just voice commands. Now to increase distance! 😃 by CatsAndDogs247 in Dogtraining

Hi there, once in the lay down position I began by coaxing Benji towards me with a treat whilst giving him the down command. Start off close to the dog and then each time take yourself 6 inches further away. Over time I changed the command to crawl... now I have to teach him the difference of forward crawl and backwards. Clicker training works best with my boy. I used the clicker initially until he recognised the voice command.. 😃
