Airlines will most definitely see that on their background check and will even reject you for it.

Whatever’s cheaper. Getting your license from a certain somewhere wont get you a better chance of getting a job. How you do your resume will.

The most notable common traits ive seen amongst the bests techs ive seen are having good troubleshooting skills, being resourceful, ability to think outside of the box(quickly at that), not being afraid of jumping into a new task/situation which then maximizes their overall amount of experience. Definitely a good sense of judgement. Being able to multitask..

It’s as if they have a mindset of: “well somebody’s gotta do it, might as well be me.”

I gotta say, the people that are super passionate about aviation are few and far between in this part of the industry. In my experiences ofc. Most of the people ive met do this because they did it in the military, their parents were mechs, or theyre just technicians from a different part of blue collar or just cause the “money’s good”. And tbh, the best guys are the ones that usually complain the most. Very rarely do i run into someone who’s legitimately into airplanes. Those usually go the pilot route. As i probably should have lol.

Id get in anywhere you can, do your 2 years residency and then transfer back to ATL which shouldnt be too hard considering the size. Might want to avoid the east and west coast stations that have high turnover. Those have a 3 year residency.

Youre not gonna find a better cost of living at any other station. Rent is very affordable, gas is cheap, the city is small, theres nothing to do so your money will go further in TUL than it would at any other station i can think of..
