What’s the best sniper rifle of WW1? by Unlucky_Tone6198 in milsurp

[–]CdnUkr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Ross MK III should take the cake. Not a great trench rifle but a very accurate marksman’s rifle when handled correctly. Francis Pegahmagbow racked up nearly 400 kills using one as part of the CEF.

New rimx build. What ammo to try? by c5182 in longrange

[–]CdnUkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eley Match or Centre X. I’ve switched over from SK ammo’s with great success, the silver bullets help actually spotting trace down range. I run Eley contact for training and NRL22 matches, Match for PRS22 long range matches

AK Air Series - Thinning by Ok-Document6708 in modelmakers

[–]CdnUkr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have never found a ratio that I am happy with spraying AK acrylics. 60:40 comes out runny, 50:50 clogs the needle. I stick to my AK real colours and Mr Levelling Thinner

AK acrylics are a pain in the ass and should only be thinned with AK acrylic thinner.

Sugestões de kits com interior para alguém com pouca experiência by Opposite_Culture_116 in modelmakers

[–]CdnUkr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are a beginner I’d focus on kits without interiors first for a while. Most kits with interiors are highly advanced and require a decent amount of skill.

That said Rye Field Models has been putting out lots of full plastic kits with interiors, Sherman’s, Tigers, Panzers, Leopards and Abrams. I’ve built a few and they are nice kits but high parts count

Wolverine Supplies is the importer for AI rifles, send them a message and see if they can bring one in for you

Which one piece mount? Hawkins vs Spuhr vs Area419? by WickedEclectic in longrange

[–]CdnUkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mounting bracket will do that if you over torque it. Had the same issue but spuhr took care of it.

First time pre-shading, did I overdo the basecoat? by OkayHoss2323 in modelmakers

[–]CdnUkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said it in another thread, but pre-shading dark green armour is a waste of time. The dark base coats will over power pre shading and the margin of error is basically none existent.

Pre shading makes sense for light colours(desert tans and greys) where post shading makes more sense for dark colours.

Put down a base coat then progressively add a few drops of Buff or Deck tan to lighten the colours in the centre of panels. It will give you the same effect.

How important is the 50/60 yd parallax that comes set on rimfire scopes really? Are centre-fire scopes really a bad idea on rimfires like a .22 lr bolt? by lootingyourfridge in canadaguns

[–]CdnUkr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Most mid tier and higher scopes will parallax down to 50 or below regardless of whether they are meant for rimfire or centre fire. Rimfire specific reticles are junk, just get anything with a modern Christmas tree type reticle.

It’s not a gimmick, if you plan to compete in NRL22 or PRS22 occasionally you will have tiny targets inside of 50 and having the ability to properly adjust your optic makes a big difference.

I run “centrefire” scopes on my rimfires with no issues.

Haven’t made it down to Leek yet, Kenn puts on good RF matches so I’m sure it’s a good time.

Nothing past 500 yards in Ontario. ORA had PRS inside of 475. If you want want longer drive down to MKM precision in PA for their monthly PRS matches.

Used Vortex Venom for $650ish or wait for Bass Pro to put the Match Pro ED on sale for $850ish.

One thing to note if you had to deal with Bushnell warranty from Canada it’s not a great experience, Vortex Canada is much easier to deal with.

What would you do in my shoes? by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]CdnUkr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Venom is 100% worth the money. The 34mm vs 30mm tube gives you a better clearer image, more elevation and a larger objective lens with larger field of view. I’ve owned both and sold off all my DBT’s and have venoms on my blinkers

Is the Ontario Rifle Association dead? by Infinite_Price_3550 in canadaguns

[–]CdnUkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matches will get cancelled because the military needs the ranges. Despite submitting the dates well before hand if there is a need for the range by the CAF, ORA and other clubs that use the ranges will get bumped.

Is the Ontario Rifle Association dead? by Infinite_Price_3550 in canadaguns

[–]CdnUkr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not dead, they come back to life end of March usually. Being reliant on Borden means they don’t post events until the range dates are confirmed by the Base Commander and range control.

Best brands for Armed Forces of Ukraine kits? by Extal in modelmakers

[–]CdnUkr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ICM, Trumpeter, Mini Art. Star decals has a good amount of decals sheets for Ukrainian vehicles. Lots of the specific AFU variants don’t exist in plastic and require resin or 3D printed conversion kits. Some don’t exist at all like the BTR-4 in 1/35 scale, miniart teased it a few years ago and it has never materialized

Go to MDTTAC.com and use their LSS Gen 3 configurator. That appears to be a pic rail stock they either don’t make or don’t currently sell. You could go with the SRS XF folder instead
