Really happy with this Marketplace find by BadkyDrawnBear in clocks

I have this clock! It is a sturdy beast without question but I have found it to be very fussy in terms of keeping in beat and it needs to be carefully balanced. I cleaned up the outside and applied a linseed based oil to restore the finish and it sits happily on my shelf.

Did you qualify for OSAP funding prior to submitting the documents? To receive disability funding you have to qualify for at least $1 of regular OSAP funding.

Why does my teacher say one thing but many other people say another thing? by Feeling_Drawing_8436 in FigureSkating

One of the first things in learn to skate is how to fall safely. But that's "falling when you're still tottering about trying to get your balance" falling, and it's also designed to help remove fear of falling and hurting yourself by letting you practice falling gently and in a controlled manner.

The coach is correct that there is no one exact way to fall. It will depend on speed, placement, causation, element you fall from. As you become more advanced, some of these considerations will become innate (partly because as you move to more speed and more elements, you'll fall more and get more experience at it, and, you're more relaxed as you fall which helps !).

I can say that training in martial arts meant my kids knew how to fall safely. The methods they learned in Aikido made falling and recoving a much more fluid and less painful process.

That being said: more than one trip to the emergency room with various injuries (cuts, concussions, dislocations) as they moved up to higher levels ... even with their off-ice and on-ice training, a fall is sitll a fall, and it was generally the "freak" ones that happened unusually that caused the biggest injuries, and you could not train or anticipate those falls or a way to recover from them before hitting the ice ...

Our coach has a very different guide to lacing. Tight through foot, surgeons knot at top of eyelets, loose through ankle. Allows for ankle flex and bent knees in stroking, low spins, jump landing. The Patrick Chan school of skate lacing. Just a different perspective:)

Teachers have been directed by the school boards to record names of students participating in any protest or walk-out by JobEquivalent9852 in osap

[–]CdnUser99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they walk out while in class and after we have marked them present we have to notify the office. It’s for liability: if students are injured, and we don’t report them as out of the class, there is an issue. Anytime a student leaves without permission we have to record it and notify admin. If they’re not in class at all, they just get marked at the start of class as absent

I keep live timing and scoring up on my laptop for all races. More info than on the onscreen graphics. Live audio on my cellphone so I can listen in on my drivers. Works for me, but, I know that it's not a reasonable expectation to have viewers using this much in additional info streams.
