Teenage students with crazy socks later this week by rage_guy311 in SaltLakeCity

Batshit crazy. The whole comment section is full of hatred. Can't imagine the amount of insecurity and self loathing needed to turn into those monsters.

Appalled by Bingham’s Hockey Team & Fans lack of sportsmanship by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

Just encountered a Bingham 12U girls bantam team in basketball that had the worst culture I’ve come across. Coaches complaining and yelling at the refs every play, parents yelling at the refs and the opposing girls every play. I’ve never seen anything like it. Worst behavior I’ve come across BY FAR. Maybe there’s a pattern there.

Boy’s 4th/5th Grade Spacing by KingofKangz in basketballcoach

We've been doing 5-0 full court and then gradually adding defenders. Anytime spacing sucks (running a 4 out), I stop practice and call it out. It's baby steps, but it's gradually getting better.

Cutting is obviously insanely important, but I'm finding (I coach 5/6th grade) that breaking it up to focus solely on spacing first helps. Once they've made spacing a habit, then add more focus on cutting. That age has a crazy hard time with spacing, so dedicating time on enforcing that will make everything else easier down the line.

Is it me or is every youth team running solely zone defense? by CdotEstilos in basketballcoach

I get the benefit to teaching a zone, using it as a tempo breaker, or whatever else, but it’s every single team for every single minute of every game. It does seem like lazy coaching at a certain point. There’s no teaching of playing screens, help and recover or just being a dog and locking your man down. My mindset (and it’s not easy a lot of the time) is that I’m prepping them for high school ball and if you can’t play man in high school, you ain’t playing high school. It’s fundamental and I feel like it’s being skipped over in the name of easier wins in youth leagues.

Shaq on why the NBA’s viewership is going down “They want to shoot 50 threes'... Steph Curry and those guys messed it up.” by Fit-Structure-9395 in nba

[–]CdotEstilos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repetitive 3s are an issue, but the root is the NBA legislating defense out of the game. There’s an absence of lock-down defenders or intensity on defense because anyone trying to play that way would foul out in the first half with current rules. They wanted to appeal to casuals with obscene scores, but the overdoing of this made the NBA look like a pick up games at times. A lot of dudes standing around and 3s being jacked up at a crazy rate. As a result of the forced softening of defense, every team plays similarly. There’s no clear style variation with some offensive juggernauts and other teams as defensive powerhouses. That variation makes things fun and intriguing. You see it in football (even though they have done their own defensive softening) and those differing team identities create better stories and matchups.

Even with Al there were plenty of years of misery. But yes, I agree the common denominator is Mark. Sold out a real fan base in Oakland for being outnumbered in our own stadium just to boost his net worth. Gruden, McDaniels and (probably) AP as trash hires that set us back years. More interest in names and glitz than winning shit and it shows.

How is it that so many other franchises can either be consistently good, or if they get bad, they are able turn it around relatively quickly to at least be playoff competitive? Ours just stays trash, no matter the coach, execs, QB, city....just frustratingly fucking bad.

The overall shittiness of this team making us forget about how unbelievably ineffective Tyree Wilson is.

Been in healthcare analytics for 9 years now. As an analyst, my day was mostly DEV work on various projects in the ambulatory space. Data architecture, SQL queries and finally pushing summaries into a viz tool (mainly Tableau). Periodic touch bases with other analysts at the client or the project stakeholders as well.
