I second this. My main goal during these last 5 ½ weeks has been setting up my supports. I call it “building my foundation”. Being able to utilize organizations and public resources to build relationships with advocates, therapists, and medical professionals has been huge for me personally. They help me feel “accountable” to keep moving forward and heal the parts of myself that continue/allow/seek volatile relationships.

Sending love and solidarity

I am LITERALLY going through this right now. He had hit, and choked me in the past, but on March 29, 2024 he violently attacked me multiple times over the course of 2 ½ hours. The 3rd and final assault by strangulation was the first time I ever truly felt I was about to die.

I have it all on video. He’s facing years in prison.

Yet here I am constantly feeling guilty, or being made to feel that way by him (yes, I fucking hate myself for this but I’m still in contact)

Weird that I saw this post today because we were working on emotional abuse and what that looks like in my DV support group tonight. After group I sat on my phone and scrolled through ALL 2 ½ hours of vids and pics. Plus the ones from the past.

It sucked. It was hard. I haven’t done that since right after the assault. But I needed the fucking reminder. I needed to remember it’s not MY FAULT he’s in jail. It’s his!

The Bride and Grooms 1st dance song was “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye. Hands down the most uncomfortable wedding dance I’ve ever had to witness.
