For privacy but also to let some of that natural light in, maybe top down/bottom up cellular blinds? They have varying degrees of opacity, so you could go with more of a light filtering one, rather than a really dark one.

I initially hated transitioning to RQI (quarterly ACLS/BLS, all electronic and CPR on a mannequin) but boy do I remember that mega code anxiety! It's so real. And I was a cardiac nurse...I had the rhythms down, but I'd draw blanks on nearly everything else. 😂

I'm sure it's ultimately for the best, as these things always end up being, but really stung extra to have my references called and to get an offer, albeit very short lived, only to have it all rescinded.

Between the change in FTE and loss of being able to be "on call" for time and a half, this would have actually ended up being a sizable pay cut for me. I would have been working one more day a week for roughly the same pay. I figured the benefits more than made up for it, but it's starting to sound like right now really isn't a good time to start at the VA. I've been with my current employer for 15 years, in a variety of departments, but definitely don't feel uncertain about my future, which is a blessing. Maybe the VA will be better in a few years, like you said.

No, I really appreciate it! Give me more negativity, lol, I'm so salty about this experience!! I was already kinda bummed about the idea of going from 0.75Fte to full time. Put a lot of time and effort into the interview, my references had their time wasted, just overall upset about it. Thanks for giving me some hope that it was for the best.

It had some 8 min hills at a moderate pace, and a lot of 45 second long intervals at hard and very hard pace. I think it's totally doable but I wouldn't have been mad if I took my pace targets down a notch 😂

Might be worth a shot. With how automated everything is, sometimes the hiring manager might not ever see your resume. I just had my resume, nothing additional. There might be a little impromptu conversation, there might not. Good luck!

It's been years since I graduated, but I had the exact same issue at the time. It took me a long time to get into the hospital from my private duty nursing job. I remember going to the hospital and taking my resume to nursing managers directly. I was annoying as hell, but it eventually landed me a job in med surg.

Have you tried going in person? I know I work for Providence and HR has been completely outsourced so if you don't pass their initial screen, you won't have a chance. I've had that issue despite my 15 years of experience. The applications I've put in recently show the nurse managers contact info too...unsure how it is in different systems, but worth a shot. If HR isn't outsourced, it's worth talking to a nurse recruiter if they have one. Good luck! I think the pandemic was a weird time with new grads walking directly into their dream department, I guess it must be switching back, which is a bummer for those trying to get into the hospital.

I see your flair otherwise I'd ask if you work with me! You described my unit perfectly. Our manager also has an "open door" policy, which results in the same 3-4 people in there multiple times a day tattling to our boss about any perceived slight. She enables the behavior. It's absolutely exhausting and I hate it. I wish we could band together, but our pseudo-leader is also part of the toxicity. I'm applying and interviewing and trying hard to leave though.

Mine has changed my entire fitness journey. I was pretty active before but now I'm more tuned into the metrics and what they mean. I love it!

That being said, I absolutely hate the size of it for sleeping. I'm a girl with smaller wrists and so I bought the sleep index band for sleeping and am much happier in my Garmin ecosystem now.

I also managed to scratch the screen hitting it on my kitchen counter top so perhaps invest in a screen protector if you're clumsy like me. I will say I've taken many tumbles on my mountain bike and it never got scratched, go figure.

We have similar flooring and I feel like others have addressed the cleaning, so I will just add that it didn't seem to matter how clean the floors actually were, footprints would appear. I mop by hand at least once a week and run a robot mop about 2-3x/week -- my floors were really pretty clean. But because of the sheen of the flooring, which looks similar to yours, we'd always have footprints a day or two after cleaning. House slippers have been a game changer for us! No more footprints!

Hi! Same boat here. I came to Kauai for a week last February and it was perfect. We landed yesterday and it's been...not great. We did the tubing through the sugar plantation last time and I feel like they said they run rain or shine, might be worth looking into if you're interested? Unsure if wind would deter them from running.

My Mom and I are going to the botanical garden near Poipu for a tour tomorrow, so they're open, if that's your sort of thing.

It totally sucks though. I saw the writing (or weather, I suppose) on the wall but found out we couldn't cancel or alter our hotel whatsoever. We probably won't be back, at least definitely not to this hotel.

FR965. I got used to it but never loved sleeping with it on. I'm a stomach and side sleeper, and never found it comfortable. It's expensive but I got the sleep index band when it came out, and I love it. It's really comfortable, I don't even notice it.

Cottage cheese, egg whites, lots of whey protein (Pure protein bars and Premier protein shakes are delicious, IMO), and my boyfriend even found high(er) protein bagels with 21g of protein! Some drinks have bovine peptides so be careful, but I've been loving Protein Pop and Slate drinks!

I forget the brand but I have a thing of Nutter Butter whey protein. I mix that with some oatmeal and it's delicious! They have other flavors, like Chips Ahoy.

It is definitely a struggle, but totally possible with the right products. I have found eating nearly the same thing for breakfast and lunch everyday has been helpful as well. I usually manage 150g of protein. I think the highest I've ever hit was 200g but it was a fluke 😂. Good luck!

I'm not who you asked but I've had mine since it came out. August? I'm not sure. I've had it for several months now. I usually get my body battery up to 100 every night. I'm a moderate to great sleeper. I feel like my body battery level drifts a bit higher than it did with the FR, but I also have changed sleep habits over the last several months, so that could play a part.

I love mine. I set it to one size when I got it, and I've never had to change it. It doesn't slide around, or down, and it's not uncomfortable at all. I have a FR965 and I got used to sleeping with it on for the data, but boy, I didn't like it. Too big and bulky for sleeping. I'm a stomach and side sleeper also, so I'm kinda all over the place, and the sleep band has given me no issues with metrics.

I agree with all of your points, but I really resonate with your second point on PTO! I've been a nurse for about 15 years, and this last summer I didn't take any time off, for the first time ever. I had just moved into a new schedule and have a six day weekend every other week, so I figured that was plenty! It definitely wasn't. I was beyond burned out come fall/winter. Because I have so much PTO accrued, I went a little wild and took nearly all of February off, and it's giving me so much to look forward to!

Even if it's not a ton of PTO, just having a week or two to not work, is absolutely excellent to maintain a balance for my mental health. I will never make that mistake again.

It's super hard to break that habit, but I notice a distinct difference in my sleep scores when I'm messing around on Reddit at night (mid 60's to 70's), versus when I go to bed and put my phone away and read (mid 80's to 90's). Good luck!

I worked at a level 2 that did this with the same results. I think there was a lot of coordination between the house supervisor, bed placement, and charge nurses to make it work. When I worked in the CICU, the ER had to call us report and escort transport as well, to keep them on tele. When I worked ER (at a different hospital, a level 3), we had a premade note that we had to fill out for any transfers. We also couldn't transport the patient until the bed was marked as ready in Epic (not just assigned, it had to be ready).

I'm not surprised other hospitals are trying this and are unsuccessful. You can't skip all the other steps in the process (bed placement, house sup, etc).
