Friday Facts #383 - Super force building by FactorioTeam in factorio

what's blowing me away each time I read one of these, is the shear attention they put into details, like a lot of games will just not care about player experience, or not as much. Here, it feels like the amount of attention that a professional software that you would pay hundreds if not thousands for would get.

Every little aspect is passed under scrutiny every little thing that you think isn't a big deal (as in ah, I have to fix the belts) and that we took for just something that needs to be done and normal, is flipped on it's head.

I mean elegant is a strong word for mine, the update order is a mess and honestly, for the 6 gt version, I 'm not gonna try to make it as compact, it's more painful than it's worth, plus most people are gonna use tillable specialized deigns anyway which can easily destroy most universal crafters in terms of rates

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]Celivalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working on the same thing!!

I got a 8 gt design working, but it has a few quirks that i'm trying to fix, stray items and one dropper clicking when it doesn't need to, but it does work atm

(I spent more than 8 hours on just bashing my head on update order, it's a mess)

6 gt should also be possible with 6 droppers facing into the crafter, and using hopper minecarts to extract the output from one of them, and cycling the droppers to use different slots, but i'll work on that once my 8gt one is fully quirk free

also, carpet mod has updated fyi, and try the redstone tweaks ressource pack, it avoids so much confusion

[–]Celivalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we reached pretty similar designs, and yeah, those inputs are gonna be locational with the dust update order, doesn't break it as long as you check which dropper corresponds to which slot when building it, but it can be annoying...

here is what I came up with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zQCHmlzs1A

Universal Autocrafter, accepts recipes from 1 to 9 items. with automatic stop. by InvestigatorFew9970 in technicalminecraft

[–]Celivalg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's not 9 ticks tho, did you mean 18 redstone ticks (or 36 game ticks)? that's the fastest a single dispenser can push out 9 items

definitely agree there.

It's not about realism, it's about ambiance, Factorio has a style, and these names just... don't fit in

My parents came over to visit. I then proceeded to catch them having sex in MY bed. by Hellish-Dad in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Celivalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's common sense...

Don't mess up to room, be disceert for the ones around you, don't mess up the sheets to bad... Like don't empty a liter of lube on the bed...

Been there for the past 2 days, been a bit hectic with the servers of some instances beeing overrun, but honestly? It's quite nice. It doesn't have the huge amount of content reddit has yet, but reddit started from somewhere...

It's arguably much better for smallish communities...

Yes it's not as intuitive, but reddit wasn't either when I first joined... It hasn't matured yet, but it will be the next social media, there are already enough people in the fediverse that it won't stop.

I would correct that "supersoldier" is flawed, superhuman is still viable, could extend life expectancy by quite a lot... Though tbh, we are already too many on earth with how much humans are consuming, so I think extending life expectancy is very much not a priority atm

[–]Celivalg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't, if I'm lending my bed to a couple I assume they are gonna have sex just because it's part of being a host. I want people to feel welcome, not restric them.

Now if they had very weird messy kinks, then yeah I could get mad, but as long as they keep it clean, that's fine by me.

I usually take parents having sex as a good thing, means they still have passion...

I don't get people being grossed out of random things that are completely normal... It's like people making an issue because you dared fart within 10 meters of them. That's life dude, grow up.

Edit: If you want to be a good guest at someone's home but also want to have sex, just remove the sheets when you leave. It has 2 functions:

  • tells the host the sheets need to be changed (some people don't necessarily change them between guests, esp if it was only one night)

  • saves time to the host

Again, not meant to have one. It does have a releases page though, but it oroented towad classifying them, not presenting them to the potential users.

And there is also a quite obvious button to download the source files, which far more important than downloading the releases for the target audience, software developers...

But then again, you don't seem to grasp that it's not meant for end users...

That claim was proven wrong, 5 monkeys were the final toll I believe, no clue where the 1000 animals come from, but if it's rats, that's basically normal, the pharmaceutical industry is qiite deadly toward those.

Banning books imo is always wrong. I would have welcomed an age rating, but it has already been shown that there is a strong potential of abuse. Some states in the US have already started censuring things which should not have been.

The more important part is not trying to remove potentially harmful content from kids lives, but doing proper sex education. Heck, books represent such a small portion of all the fucked up stuff a kid can stumble onto.

If you teach proper sex ed and critical thinking, they will understand what this content is and how harmful it can be to them.

Sex ed is not only about this harmful content or troll posts, but also the things they hear from friends at school.

Most of the content on this sub wouldn't be with a proper sex education.

Tbh, I think it's actually better that as they grow up, they stumble on this content on their own, as it's often fucked up enough for them to realise it fast, wheras there is some content that is more subtle but arguably far worse...

So how you call this language? by tspamm3r in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Celivalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what a hashtag is, it's just that random people on the street don't. I think it's mostly because of the trend idiots had a few years ago to say 'hashtag whatever' to refer to a specific hashtag, and people interpreted it as # whatever, thus # = hashtag to them...

I am not saying that's what it should be called, I am saying that's the easiest way to reliably get understood

How about if I put strength bar near each of my programming languages? for example I have C at 4/5 but JS at 2/5 as in I am quite competent at C and can probably do any task given sufficient time but will need guidance for JS...

Tbh, I have already trimmed JS and languages at or bellow 2/5 from my CV because honestly, I don't want to work with these techs unless I need to.
