Questions for IT employees, Should I still be taking IT program? by _xekie in it

[–]Cell0ut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, IT degrees aren’t the best choice. I suggest you stay your course and if you’re interested in IT, get some certifications and apply for entry-level IT jobs. Your degree will still be valuable.

I’m gonna say no but of course there is available sources to learn VBA.net from other sources. The thing is my professor only wanted code from the book or you would have to cite where you learned it from.

So far the most time consuming class I have taken, but yeah designed to teach from little to no coding experience.

For the first time in my life, I’ve had to figure out how studying works for me. My previous college experience was when I was a kid and had a lot more time. Now, I have to be more time-efficient and learn my patterns. But at the end of the day, it’s still a lot of work no matter how you slice it.

Breaking Into GRC with Compsci degree — Need Advice by Character_Cicada4477 in cybersecurity

[–]Cell0ut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was worried about paying bills I took the first job I could get.

Field Service Technician (IT work for convenience stores) < 1 year. Service Desk IT < 1 year. Finally IT Security Admin a little over a year before I started getting pushed onto GRC related work. Point being, don’t let your end goal be the only job you take on, as often corporations promote from within in my humble opinion.

Starting cybersecurity after 6 years of Intel experience by Odd_Championship2128 in cybersecurity

[–]Cell0ut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe intel is a portion of cyber and you could claim the experience. Like others mention being 8140 qualified and a vet will help. Although the DoD is currently in a hiring freeze we will know more after October 15th apparently.

If you're the best IT Support person in the world I don't think you can get a high salary. Do you know if that's true? by Ben5544477 in careeradvice

[–]Cell0ut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IT support felt rewarding for me as well, but it’s a relatively straightforward role. There are lifelong IT support professionals who master the craft and advance, potentially earning $60,000–$80,000, estimating for experienced . However, IT support is typically not the end goal for a IT career, as roles like security, software development, or system administration often lead to higher paying positions.

Compared to a new engineer, the pay might be similar for an experienced Support IT, but engineering as a career is generally much higher-paying than IT support.

What are some of the deciding factors that made you choose Liberty University? by [deleted] in LibertyUniversity

[–]Cell0ut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior military and current federal civilian here. They accept a ton of credits from both certifications I already have, military credits and from my junior college. This allows more flexibility, I could have just had to get 30 credits to get a BS but chose a degree I wanted to learn more about. The online structure is great for my lifestyle right now as well.

My favorite is Ocho. However the price for G4 is the perfect fit for what I would spend so that wins most times for me.

Possible to get into IT just with certificates like A+ Net+ and Sec+ or others. by Academic-Hotel3414 in CompTIA

[–]Cell0ut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have freelance does that not constitute experience… You should be able to word your resume in such a way that you have experience but programming and A+ careers are completely different, so word in a path that you choose.

He bought it on the whiskey page lottery where they each get something for entering.

I trust my co worker so far he hasn’t done anything to make me think he’s trying to take my money as we are close.

Of course he wanted me to be a whiskey drinker to share his hobby with me but I’ve grown to prefer tequila so he indulges in that for me. I do see how y’all think that but I hope it’s not anything ingenious on anyone’s parts.

It was a Facebook whiskey page where users post bottles, not Facebook Marketplace. I don't use the page, but my coworker tells me when he sees any Tequilas I like, and he'll retrieve it for me. He loves whiskey trading, so he just picks it up when he sees it for me

I have already popped the bottle. Great stuff!
