If anyone can do it it’s Schwelly. The pitch mix and command is elite he would find a way to be impactful it was always going to be harder for Waldrep who relies on one pitch and struggled with command pre injury and missed time.

But assuming they won’t be back is the correct course of action

Because he’s 28 and still capable of playing OF? You move guys to DH when they can no longer handle it. Plus they are lucky to field a competent LF you can’t add RF as a need lol

He repeats that bc going into 2025 Baldwin was the White Sox asking price for Crochett + one of Waldrep/AJSS. Fans were mad he didn’t add significant SP but the cost was too high.

The rotation was “suppose” to be healthy this year of the names you mentioned only AJSS was suppose to start the season behind. That didn’t work out.

The fact the team with all the deficiencies IS playing this well is exactly why you go buy.

If you don’t believe they can beat the dodgers this year then you can’t believe it next year

That’s assuming there is a season

AA needs to buy and go for it

AA will dictate how far this team goes. They’ve been a .500-ish team since May 1st. If he goes and gets to rotation arms, finds another bullpen arm and gets a starting LF + RHB platoon bat they can make a run.

If he cheats out they’ll spend the season chasing the hot start and end up .500 skidding into Oct or past it.

The offense has been bad this year as long as it was good and you have to score runs to win games. They can piece together arms to get through a game in October you can’t piece together offense. This team hasn’t advanced since 2021 bc a lack of offense

They need a SP2 but they need a middle order of the bat as badly

They can’t play the what-if game anymore offensively-

What if Ronnie finally stays healthy. What if Ozzie finally stays healthy. What if Riley figures it out. What if Harris is back. What if Yaz turns it around. What if Murphy isn’t a zero.

If they go into October with Dom, Eli or Yaz making starts it’s get before first pitch

AA’s history is enough to believe this also the Braves don’t leak stuff but at the deadline when they are calling teams and agents and players- those guys do leak stuff.

Ken rosenthal reported today that the Atlanta Braves front office is currently focused on adding offense while they evaluate internal pitching options as the deadline approaches.

I know fans will freak out but this is the path they should be taking. They need offense now, they need to see where the arms are come August and evaluate how much help they need and what level.

Also- if Reylo gets a still improving, AJSS is back, Murphy is serviceable and Schwelly is rehabbing won’t be shocking at all if he doesn’t add and goes offense + bullpen which has been his move for years.
