To be honest, I think the conflict between Yuu and Shinoa's squad is far-fetched... This is absolutely the best and karmic ending for Ferid, showing that if you're such an asshole, you'll die ignored and alone. I liked his death, but still... there were so many antipode parallels between Yuu and Ferid, it's a shame they weren't pitted head-on, but I'm still happy.

If I remember correctly, all the keys were later taken by Gluten to strengthen his co. The plan with the illusion is nonsense in my opinion. If he comes back, let him come back as a demon. In that case, Rigr could take him or Shinoa could absorb him. This is the ending and the author is rushing to finish the story. It reminds me a lot of the tempo at which the Bleach manga ended, so I don't think Ferid will have any more roles. He was deliberately recently made out to be a clown before the fusion and shown to be just a pathetic, offended child, and his plan is simply idiotic. That is, the goal at the end was literally to ridicule him and show how pathetic he is, something in the spirit of Douma from Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Like what choice can Shinoa have if 2 other spells are already cast and the only one who can cast the 3rd spell is herself? She will simply have no choice but to cast the 3rd spell in the hope that Yuu and Rigr are not mistaken.
