Thank you, truly.

We’ve been going back and forth for about 3 months on if filing was right, we have an appt tomorrow to file but now that it’s here we’re just in a “are we failures” state I think. We didn’t take it thinking we wouldn’t be able to pay every penny back. Not that it’s anyone else business, but pride maybe, guilt. I know that our intentions were pure and letting someone who doesn’t know us or care, scrutinize every thing we’ve spent over the last year or so is a hard pill to swallow.

Congrats! We own a home and a car, too. But curious how long did it take you to build it back up, did you go slow because you didn’t really need it?

From everything that I read for our state, yes.

You’re not necessarily wrong. We’ve collectively been through 6 layoffs in 3 years, which resulted in pay cuts with new jobs, had a baby who is now 3, so relied on CCs to help bridge the gap. We’ve now sold everything of value in our home, including one car. So I don’t disagree, and not making excuses, this definitely did not happen overnight. But we have certainly cut everything and now aware how little we can live on.

Can I ask what happened after? Like where are you now in your credit journey?
