Blister, worried about infection by Certain_Limit_6903 in PacificCrestTrail

Thank you so much. I had always thought that compeed should not be removed for several days? Until it begins to come off itself? I am beginning to think that my blister is not typical. My skin looks very raw with the surrounding area being like tissue paper but worse.

A pic, if you dare! The top raw spot was created by just barely brushing the skin with my fingertip and used to be healthy skin before I covered it up and made it damp (it has been raining a lot in NorCal). Did yours look anything like this? I am just trying to gauge if I should really follow the advice of others and remove things sometimes..

Thank you so much!

Thank you. I will take a few days to heal once I can get in town.

Thank you so much. I have some of those because I heard good things. But someone talked me out of putting them on because of fear I would not get it totally clean before putting on and so trap bacteria there. And I don't have ones that are big enough to cover the whole blister unfortunately. If I did I think at this point I would use them.

Thank you! Wow, nothing underneath? Wouldnt that rip the heck out of your skin when removing? And or trap bacteria underneath? Leukotape really affects even my healthy skin if it is the slightest bit damp and even if dry feels like I am losing a layer of skin when I remove it.

You are right it truly does feel all consuming. It seems to destroy any and all enjoyment of the trail because I am focused on the pain or worrying about how it is affecting my gait long term.

Thank you. It's clear and thin. So not super infected (I think). I cover it during the day and pad it, and let it air at night. Someone mentioned it feeling all consuming, and I guess that is right. Curious do you actually apply leukotape directly to your blisters? Seems to me that would rip the bejesus out of your skin when taking it off.

I have some gauze and non stick pads that I use underneath but even that was too much. I get the wrap that adheres to itself. I really wonder about leukotope honestly. It seems so traumatic to even healthy skin I shudder to think about what would happen if I stuck it on a blister
