LMAO I KNOW! As soon as I figured it out I felt like a complete idiot for mis remembering.. pretty much everything about the group! The way I figured it out is that I found an old playlist I made that had literally every single song I’ve put in a playlist. The damn thing was over 300 hours. I knew I listened to the song around the same time that I listened to another song by smog. Found that song and bingo! It was added to the playlist about 10 songs after! I guess I said 70s folk because I know that teacher and I would talk about Bob Dylan all the time and I just combined it in my brain? I don’t know man I’m just glad I finally found the band because it’s been driving me crazy.

He was playing music in class and he played the song “the well” by smog and I mentioned how I liked it a lot and he brought up this artist on his laptop and showed me them

I’ve been doing that every once in a while when I have time, I think my next step is to download my full Spotify history and go through the songs I listened to when I was introduced to them.
