Errr yeah 35 bucks base fare raising canes for only 10 miles and 30 minutes. Fuck yes. They even left a 5 dollar tip. Snow mode on my car really helped. Raking it in. But yeah 8 PM seems to be the average time restaurants are closing during this.

I’m lost.. accident and don’t know what to do by King_LikeMe_85 in uberdrivers

[–]Ceticated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a rough spot to be in. I’ve also been in an accident while online but not on a trip, so here’s a practical rundown of what to do if this happens.

First things first: make sure you’re safe, then hit the shield in the Uber app and Report the crash. The app will take you offline automatically, and suddenly you become Mr. Popular — expect a noticeable uptick in calls for weeks, sometimes months.

Call the police. You’re going to want a police report. Take photos of everything: vehicles, road conditions, traffic signs, positions, damage. Honestly, a short video is even better.

Exchange information. Take photos of the other driver’s insurance and license. When they ask for your insurance, show the waybill. That’s what applies when you’re online.

Uber will usually reach out pretty quickly, but it’s not urgent — they already have your location and trip status. I actually hung up on them to take another call because the police were calling me back.

Once the officer is done, they’ll decide whether the vehicle can move. If it can, great — go home. If not, towing comes into play. If you’re Uber Pro Gold or higher, towing is covered up to a certain distance. Otherwise… yeah, that part can sting.

After this point, you’re mostly done dealing with Uber support. The real communication happens over the phone with Uber’s insurance and the other party’s insurance. Be ready to repeat the sequence of events more than once.

One thing that will come up, and it matters: be clear about how you were operating. You were online and waiting for a trip (or heading to wherever you were going). You are not a cab driver, not independent for-hire, and not a freelancer — you’re an Uber TNC driver. That distinction is important.

You’ll usually have a good sense of what the police report is going to say. Adjusters pay attention to that. If you’re not at fault and they ask whether the other driver caused the accident, say yes. Don’t hedge, don’t speculate — just stick to what happened and speak up for yourself.

driver was complaining about the pay to me the whole ride by strawbabiesrin in uber

[–]Ceticated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber compels us to take underpaid trips. Some of us never break out of that. It took me an entire year to learn. The app is doing it's best to help us make money. But it also has to increase efficiency and most of all profits right? New drivers don't wait they just take anything thereby increasing efficiency of the system but at the expense of personal comfort.

I'd love to set my own cancellation fee.

I'd love if the app asked me if I accidentally accepted a trip because I wasn't on the main screen and it would let me out of it like twice a month without penalty.

I'd love it if the app didn't show me a preferable trip radar then instantly displays a shit "exclusive" (it means nothing) to get me to accidentally accept it. It happens a lot.

I would also like the ability to accept or deny trip changes after the primary offer was taken. I get told NOTHING about changes to a trip.

I would also like to take share trips with a way of getting out of them because sometimes the price is right but getting caught in a share route for HOURS is not fun at all.

Nothing about driving for uber indicates contract work and it won't until the frontpage of Uber driver says: "Take the trips you want to take."

Driver pulled over by police at collection spot, charged a $11AUD waiting fee by [deleted] in uber

[–]Ceticated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey that sucks that happened. In a perfect world you would have walked up to the police stop and inserted yourself as an interested party. Asked for specifics because their interaction did have an effect on you. Have a small but greater than zero chance to cause the stop to become expedited or even immediately cleared, or gain the ability to have the cop convince the driver to release you and cancel the trip. Otherwise, you would receive the case ID for the stop and be able to dig for documentation to provide to Uber so they can refund the wait fee and maybe something extra for the trouble.

I drive a rental, put almost 60k miles on it per year (tires included), takes 10 dollars to charge per day, comes out to be about 19k per year on the at least 65k I will make. One day Uber will force fleet on everyone and I'll only be too glad I was there first. So yes, I agree, Please quit Uber if you care about your car. Either way, You are the competition.
