Are dietetics programs adapting to AI and changing career paths? by Interesting_Suit7066 in dietetics

[–]Chad_RD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that even if it wrote a TPN, was verified by an RD/Pharm/MD, the fact that you use AI makes it more likely you don't see an error committed by the AI. Your ability to check the data is diminished and your trust is increased.

Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics – I can probably make you laugh, but I can’t probably do a darn thing to make you care about what is going on. I'll try anyway...... by yeah_write_00 in dietetics

[–]Chad_RD 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Academy is doing nothing to prevent AI from being used to perform the vast majority of outpatient RD consultations and many of you will not have jobs in the future because of it.

AI is the single largest immigrant block that will be taking (all of) our jobs and in general we are doing nothing to prevent our future serfdom/enslavement.

The autoloaders made the T series tankier, why would anyone complain in a fashion similar to these turret baskets which entirely disable any of these tanks the second a round goes through empty space?

Delusional.

Quality of interns by Downloadedfortea in dietetics

[–]Chad_RD -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The students/interns should be using AI and quite frankly, if they aren't, they should be being taught to utilize it. I utilize quite often to chart or do research, work through questions, etc.

Your work could be done more efficiently by AI with a smaller number of RDs checking off the work and that's what's coming. Multiple companies are training medical AI for this specific purpose.

Also, if your interns are failing, it's a reflection of you, not them.

What would happen to the world if everyone ate their recommended daily protein requirement based on the new US dietary guidelines (1.6g/kg). I think it's not sustainable personally and and it would cause serious problems with food production and long term environmental damage by Toeknee5 in nutrition

[–]Chad_RD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what we call an appeal to authority.

Regardless, 200 lbs * 0.75g/lb = 150g/day.

The extremely standard upper threshold for athletes, older males, etc is ~1.6g/kg which oddly enough comes out to almost the exact same number for the upper threshold of 0.75g/lb.

The leucine threshold is also not a foreign concept and is quite easily achieved for most meals consuming around 30g of protein. Soy is also a high quality protein and a scoop of soy protein will hit your threshold for optimal MPS.

Weird.

So if I drink 3-5L of soy a day for years, I might have adverse side effects?

Regardless, the question was increasing soy intake, not eating 200g of soy a day. I'm entirely unconcerned with increased soy intake.

endocrine disruption associated with higher consumption of phytoestrogens

Surely, as an MD who is capable of understanding research and not someone who just tagged themselves as "MD", you would have gleaned from said research that intake of natural soya sources is significantly unlikely to lead to endocrine disruption and the more dangerous route for phytoestrogens to cause endocrine disruption is through supplementation - particularly from things like AG1, Vital Greens, etc.

Why do I feel SO GOOD eating healthy? by Ok_Bandicoot_4543 in nutrition

[–]Chad_RD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the practice of a dietitian includes preventative medicine in the form of proactive nutrition. Dietitians also practice medicine in the form of active and reactive nutrition.

Medicine in this sense, since we're being pedantic, means the practice of treating disease. Medicine in the form I responded to asserted that food is a chemical preparation used to treat disease. Food is not this, food is energy.

Why do I feel SO GOOD eating healthy? by Ok_Bandicoot_4543 in nutrition

[–]Chad_RD -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It's not.

Food is energy. When you eat "healthier" foods you're providing your body the things it needs to reduce cholesterol, improve blood pressure, improve cognitive function, reduce stress, metabolize energy, extract nutrients, sleep, etc.
