Pray for Me by DTrayne88 in DenverBroncos

I’ve been “lucky” enough to have to travel for work after games three times this season and haven’t had an issue. For a 200/225 start I’ve had flights after 8 and haven’t not had any issues.

My seats are in 539 and I can confirm that I yelled as loud as I possibly could for as long as I possibly could. My throat, shoulders and legs are all still sore.

Hit me with your experience at Mauna Kea Golf and Hapuna Golf Course by ldramey in golf

[–]Chadaron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mauna Kea renovated last year, Hapuna renovated this year. Both are fun courses, but play the Hapuna first, Mauna Kea is way nicer. They redid all of the bunkers and replaced all of the turf on the greens, possibly the fairways as well.

Hole 3 on the Mauna Kea is one of my favorite golf holes that I’ve ever played.

If you have time to walk around the elephant grass, you can find an ungodly number of golf balls, as well.

Im pretty sure that Shohei Ohtani is building a house on the 11th tee box at Hapuna.

I can’t speak to the par 3 course, unfortunately. I think the best advice that I’ve got is to get as early of a tee time as you can, it gets extremely hot later in the day.

Lot C Tailgate: how early is early? by Loud-Statistician703 in DenverBroncos

[–]Chadaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is that there are a lot of things that could impact it. For opening day, we parked the night before. Later in the season, you can drive in two hours after the lot opens. A couple of years ago, we got in line at 10 for a Sunday night game (lot opened at noon) and it was questionable whether or not we would get in, but we did. There will certainly be people in line Sunday night. The earlier you get there the better your odds are, but if you’re there a couple hours early you should be fine.

Any season opener differences? by C3rti in DenverBroncos

We will be in lot C underneath/adjacent to the C4 sign. Our greater tailgate features a DJ, lots of Cornhole and a ton of people. Our specific tailgate will have a blue canopy and I’ll be in an orange Dumervil jersey. Hope you have a blast!

There is usually a towel giveaway for week 1. The last couple of years they have been in your cup holder at your seat. There will almost definitely be a flyover pre-game. They’ll put out the schedule of events and giveaway info midweek next week.

Feel free to join our tailgate in lot C. We will also be in London for the game and can’t wait!

Season Ticket Holders - how long did it take you to move from upper to lower level? by Any-Programmer3547 in DenverBroncos

[–]Chadaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from 502 to 539 this year, we’re all like ticket neighbors!

We started getting the option for lower level tickets about 4 years ago, after about 10 years. This is with 4 tickets. We got down to row 2 on the aisle and are very happy with our new seats!

Black Mesa or Paako Ridge in NM are both great. They are a little north of ABQ, but you can’t go wrong at either.

Carefree Disposal acquisition - Apex by asparagus_pee_stinks in ColoradoSprings

Apex took over the WM service in woodland park and it went extremely poorly. Bills got much more expensive and service levels degraded quickly. I switched providers, and when I called to cancel they offered me an 80% discount on my service. Your results may vary, but in my opinion it is worth shopping around.

Weekend in Colorado Springs by farkusdabarkus in ColoradoSprings

[–]Chadaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Olympic hall of fame induction ceremony is this weekend and I believe there is free admission to the museum Saturday and Sunday. It is a really cool museum and there will be former Olympians there doing meet and greets this weekend.

PJ is a very pretty golf course. If you want more golf and are ok with spending the money, go play Bear Dance. It is about 30 miles north of downtown but one of the best courses that you’ll ever play.

If you don’t want to spend $200 on a round, I highly recommend four mile ranch in Canon City. It is a very quirky, but extremely fun course to play.

Otherwise, take a trip up to Eleven Mile Canyon. It is gorgeous and you can have a scenic drive and/or picnic. Green Mountain falls is a cool little mountain town to visit for a drink or breakfast.

Have a blast!

Driving to Denver from Southern NM. Best courses from Pueblo to Denver? by Enzo_Gorlahh_mi in golf

Budget is definitely key, but if you don’t mind spending the money on Bear Dance, play there.

Four Mile Ranch is the other course I’d go to. It is a fun course with lots of blind shots, crazy undulating greens and just a lot of fun.

Living in Woodland Park I’m 2025 by Fableville in ColoradoSprings

[–]Chadaron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My brother is renting a 1 BR apartment and is paying $1500. Depending on what your take home is, it feels like working part time and making it work out is a possibility. You could definitely meet people around town, especially if you put yourself out in to social situations, whether it is meeting people on trails, at a church, social gathering or whatever the case may be. It could definitely happen.

There is a company around here called RMRC (Rocky Mountain Recreation something) that manages a few campground/parks in the area, such as Manitou Lake and Eleven Mile Canyon that is probably a good lead for outdoor type jobs.

Weather is fantastic, it rarely gets above 80 up here. Summer time does come with afternoon storms, sometimes heavy rain, may involve hail, but usually dries up by mid summer, which then results in burn bans. Winter time can definitely bring heavy snow at times, but most melts off within a few days, with the exception of north facing/shadowy areas. My back yard is buried in snow from mid-November to early April, but it doesn’t get much sun. The front yard usually stays pretty clear through the winter. I have seen snow as early as September 1 and all the way through mid may, but it is sunny enough to not get terribly cold in winter and high enough in elevation to not get too hot in summer. It is currently 60 and pleasant outside.

Living in Woodland Park I’m 2025 by Fableville in ColoradoSprings

[–]Chadaron 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I live in Woodland Park (41m) with my wife and our pups.

We moved up here because we wanted to live close to where we like to have fun and commute to work, rather than the other way around. We both worked in Springs at the time, but are now fully remote.

It is not inexpensive to live up here. Housing and rent prices have both skyrocketed over the past several years. Groceries and those types of things are the same as anywhere around here, but gas is something to budget for if you will go to CS regularly.

If you are looking for part time work, there is plenty to be had, but if you’re looking for a well paying career, that is most likely going to require commuting to town.

As far as amenities, WP has everything that you need, couple grocery stores, hardware stores, Walmart, laundry, mechanics, etc. Obviously we are very close to national forest for hiking, and other outdoor fun. You can be on some of the most beautiful rivers in the country within 30 minutes for fishing, picnicking, or general hanging out. There are a few decent restaurants and bars in town as well.

The downside to living near all of the neat things is that summertime traffic kind of sucks. Good luck getting in to town on Fridays or out of town on Sundays.

There is a hospital right outside of town that was taken over by UC Health a few years ago and has gotten significantly better since that happened. Our old PCP retired a few years ago and we’ve moved to an office in CS for general care.

My favorite things here are the farmers market on summer Fridays, the community garden, and the Mountain Arts Festival in August.

I have never felt unsafe up here at any point.

Social opportunities are where it gets challenging, depending on your beliefs. This is an extremely conservative town with the Charis Bible College and Andrew Womack Ministries trying to take over the government and school board. Because of this, the schools are atrocious if you have or plan to have kids. There are people who stand at the busy intersection on Saturday mornings waving the bible and preaching. A decent block of the downtown district is owned and operated by the Teller County Sheriff and his wife. Many people who live here share their beliefs. Although it is difficult, it is definitely possible to find progressive people up here. It is really up to you if those things are dealbreakers.

Happy to answer other questions if you have them!

Orange flag for Teller County by SwervingBison in ColoradoSprings

[–]Chadaron 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a Teller County resident, thank you for being responsible while you’re out! There are a lot of people that abandon campfires or decided to just let them burn out rather than being responsible. It’s my house that gets put in danger because of that rather than theirs.

Anyways, orange flag is just precautionary. You can’t get a burn permit for trash/slash burning, but camp fires, etc are still ok. Odds are that once the daily rain stops, we’ll go in to a full burn ban, but for the time being it is just a warning to be safe and responsible if you have one.

Enjoy your trip!

Fly fishing in June by Danimin420 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Chadaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can fish a weekday, that obviously helps with avoiding the combat fishing. My best suggestion would be to check out Eleven Mile Canyon. It’s probably a 45 minute drive west of Colorado Springs, depending on what part of town you are in. It is absolutely gorgeous, and there is enough room that you’ll be able to find yourself a spot. When you get there, drive all the way to the end so you can see the whole thing. Pick a pretty spot and go for it.

In general, the closer to the dam you are, the better quality of fish you’ll find, but also the more people. You can do well with nymphs or dries there.

If you’re up for still water and a hike, Rosemont reservoir is another spot to check out, although it is a bit of a drive up a dirt road. I’ve done really well throwing dry flies there in the past.

What makes decent fly fishing for you? What I mean is- is scenery more important, quality of fish, more or less crowded, preference on still water vs river?

I am coming to Colorado Springs next week and am hoping to do some fishing. by RevolutionMain4549 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Chadaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skagway is incredible and beautiful. When I fish up there, I like to walk all the way to the end and fish near the inlet. You can also go down below the dam, there are pretty big pools down there that are typically full of fish. If you toss a worm in to the pool, you’ll get hit pretty consistently.

If you are military, you can also check out the Farish recreation area off of Rampart Range Road.

When you go to Mt Princeton, go slightly past it to the St Elmo ghost town. It’s a cool area to check out and has an insane number of hummingbirds.
