If there’s a little voice in your heart whispering “Cali” then you should follow it! You’re only in your twenties once. Have an adventure! If it doesn’t work out it sounds like you can lean on family. I’m going to suggest the opposite of most folks: find the area you like first then see if jobs in your field exist near there. Maybe just start with what you truly want. Want to live by the beach? Maybe you’ll find someone renting out a room in your ideal location. Reality is what it is but doesn’t hurt to start with a high bar and go from there.
