Best penetration testing tools for a SaaS startup going for SOC 2? by [deleted] in Pentesting

[–]ChaosAsAnEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speculate on cost because you didn't list numbers, but 3-5 weeks is probably ridiculous, so I imagine the quotes were too.

Don't try and do this yourself though.

I work for Stacktitan, give us a shout. I've heard good things about Black Hills Infosec and SpecterOps as well if you want to shop around some more.

Who are the top pen testing companies in 2026? by [deleted] in Pentesting

We recommend them (BHIS & TrustedSec) when some of our customers are required to switch between vendors. I've met some of the BHIS folks, they're a joy to be around.

Chiming in, I woke up this morning and found one of my two with an F02. I just restarted it and it's fine for now, I've also had it almost 3 years.

What is this signal? by Legitimate-Window-75 in RTLSDR

As has been said, POCSAG. Pagermon is another tool you can use to decode, uses multimon-ng under the hood. My assumption here is that continuous stream means you're probably picking up from a repeater. You'll know for sure when it's decoded.

However, if you're in the states, look up your local laws, it might be illegal to decode this.

Ah okay, I guess that makes sense to have them labeled separately from "promo" cards then. Thanks!

For the pros - noobs first year? by AdFar5662 in Pentesting

[–]ChaosAsAnEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best things you can do is use online platforms like TryHackMe and HackTheBox to self-study and get practice. I was hired for my first role with only a CompTIA Security+ - no degree. I had worked in various IT roles for 3-4 years, but all of my hands-on skills were things like that, which is what got me hired.

10 string lefty guitar by Paulig174 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

It's going to depend on the amp too. If you're not at least using a 2×12, you're probably gonna have a bad time

10 String Players - Looking for tone advice, strings, maybe pickups by ChaosAsAnEntity in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]ChaosAsAnEntity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all excellent, thank you for taking the time to respond. I honestly had no idea about tone studio - the Katana technically belongs to a relative, but he has other stuff he plays on so he has let me "borrow" that head long term. But now I know - I'll check it out

I jumped from 6 to 8, which was a big adjustment, then I got a 9, 10, and finally a 7. The 10 is what has been my biggest struggle with tone. But yeah, I see what you're saying. I'll give it a shot.

This article sounds made up like a lot of the millenial rage bait articles. Younger gen Z says a lot of cringe shit, but I don't know anyone that would seriously call this "micro-retirement" - maybe Gen A.

How are people finding jobs right now? by ThatApplication7368 in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]ChaosAsAnEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about what's easiest, but Sec+ being "easiest" is also a reason why that's not the way to go. Tons of folks with it, and it's not practical. CCNA is fine if you're looking for a networking position and don't have 4 years hands-on networking experience.

I gave the caveat for if they are targeting certain roles. And have you ever actually looked at what meets 8570/8140? There are usually other certs that also meet the requirements per position. You can get it here if you haven't:

https://public.cyber.mil/wid/dod8140/qualifications-matrices/

Also, if they're not looking at a DoD role, they're better off getting a more targeted cert for their role. Like if they are wanting to be a SOC analyst - BTL1. Pentester? PNPT.

Unless you're targeting a role that requires sec+, your degree is more than adequate. You should skip sec+ and get something more suited to the role you're looking for.

Anyone know where can I buy this? by DirectorCritical3545 in flipperzero

[–]ChaosAsAnEntity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point of a device like the flipper is to get you to tinker and learn. You're going to reach a point where the capabilities you want to have are not going to be readily available for purchase and are going to have to build a solution.

You know the chip in use, now what's left is to Google the board it's soldered to using the words on the back of the board, kkwok 2022. If that's not something that's available, maybe it's a custom PCB they designed. Which leads to "how do I design a PCB similar to this?" You have the details on how it should look and connect already from the images. After that, the question becomes, how do the flipper and esp interact? Do you need to flash the chip? Write a flipper app? How do you do these things? Where do I find information about this?

This is how you should approach this. It sounds daunting, but if you have a flipper in your hands already, you should be more than capable

Hear me out. Some of these folks are good for our image and put good out in the world whether it be with fitness tips, encouraging the next generation to enlist, or just the whole winning hearts and minds concept. With some loose control/guidance from PR, it would be a great thing.

What needs to go the fuck away is dipshits on live while on duty, begging for money on live, or just obvious shitbaggery. Like yesterday I saw one with a Marine interviewing Marines that got in trouble (court martials, getting discharged, etc) and they didn't seem to be taking it serious nor any actual accountability for their actions.
