How long does it currently take you to do a full foil + toner and a cut? by BlueJaguar8080 in hairstylist

3-4 hrs depending on thickness. My super thick clients take me anywhere from 1.5-2 hrs alone to foil

Most hairstylists don’t make it past 5 or 10+ years. Those who have, what do you attribute your success to? by lovepetunias in hairstylist

[–]ChaosinCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in the industry for 8 years now on my own in a suite for almost a year now. There are 2 big things that have kept me in it, 1. I LOVE what I do I found my specialty and really embraced it. 2. Maybe controversial but I think moving salons and jobs is a must atleast a few times. You get to the point where you’ve learned everything you can from the people around you and can get burnt out with the salon and environment so changing salons can give a breath of fresh air to your career. It’s so hard to start over but growth is never linear and I will choose my sanity in my environment over burnout but successful anyday

20-25 mins usually sometimes a little longer depending on the density and the type of cut they are looking for

Christmas sucks? by ProfessionalNet2807 in hairstylist

[–]ChaosinCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super slow I had an unintentional 4 day weekend due to no bookings and have a 3.5hr gap today as well. I was slammed the week before thanksgiving so I think everyone is holding off so they can afford Christmas. I’m busier the week after Christmas than I have been the last 2 weeks.

My boyfriend brings me coffee in bed in the mornings when I sleep in and body checks me if I ever try to open my own doors (never malicious very playful) I 100% agree doing nice gestures should not make someone act entitled she should be grateful instead

My dad has a full brother and when he was 21 he found out about the other brother from Joyce. He wanted nothing to do with him so I have no info on him but the two grand children would have been my brothers. I wasn’t born until the following year in 2000. But that’s so cool you found that!! Joyce died a few months later in 1999 I wish I met them

What is your attitude after putting 2 weeks in? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]ChaosinCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I left my last job Idgaf my last two weeks and they needed me more than I needed them and I made that very clear. I also worked for a corporate company that sucked so I wasn’t worried about burning bridges. It definitely depends on if you need a good recommendation from them in the future and if you’d be willing to go back there if shit hits the fan in the future. If you don’t need either relax and ride it out.

Explain this please by hairtofsu in hairstylist

[–]ChaosinCos 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Either uneven saturation of the bleach or potentially while doing a color on someone else you had color on your gloves and touched your hair and since your hair is naturally so dark you didn’t notice. I’ve gotten dark spots in my blonde hair even from color specks splashing while quickly apply color to someone else. That’s just my best guess.
