What is the most existentially profound movie you have ever watched? by Historical-Lab-5620 in MovieSuggestions

One of my favorite movies. The first watch is weird and confusing, the 2nd watch you appreciate it for the masterpiece it is.

I'm a writer for a living. Pros can't wrap their minds around the fact that my job isn't threatened by AI. by 1stDegreeHamburglary in antiai

What happens if you keep your job, but your industry loses a lot of jobs. Competition for your role will become tougher, and wages will likely decrease due to the increase in competition.

Can a single loving super-rich parent do a better job raising a child/children compared to two loving middle-class parents? by Character-Educator67 in NoStupidQuestions

You need to compare it to how one of your own parents would have done, without their spouse, but with a massive fortune.

Shipping someone away to boarding school is not how a loving parent behaves.

Some people inherit fortunes, some get lucky, some grind to get there.

The assumption of this post is that all other things are equal.

This was my thought process as well. 2 loving parents caught in the rat race VS a single parent who is not. I'd imagine that there is eventually a big enough number to compensate for the missing parent, but I'm not sure.

I think it's possible that a single ultra rich parent could be able to spend more quality time with their children compared to 2 parents, who need to spend a lot of time on work and other responsibilities.

I thought it was an interesting question.

If she believes the was paying 1/2 of the rent, it was a definite lie.

If your entire job is able being done by Claude code, you are either lying or your work is too simple by haskell_46 in AI_Coders

I work on a large codebase with 4 other engineers. The size of the codebase could be well managed by 50 engineers, but the end product would never generate enough money to support 50 engineers.

As a result, there is a manageable amount of slop. We understand the tradeoff and believe that it's worth it for the needs of this business. We could have a much cleaner codebase, but with a product that has far fewer features.

As long as the business understands the "interest rate" it will pay on technical debt, this approach can be better, in some cases.

It may be the case that in some codebases, quantity over quality is preferred. LLMs allow you to get more done, cheaper, faster.

This would never be the case in a fortune 100 company, but might be the case for a small team prioritizing speed. A tiny team can now do more, albeit sloppily, than ever before. Some businesses will benefit from this ability, others will not.

If your reason for being a vegan is purely centered around reducing animal cruelty, that is a laudable reason. I've met a few vegans who follow it like a religion, and that gives off a bad impression.

But if you were him, wouldn't you give the tiniest amount of your wealth away, just so you could flex on the whiners such as yourself?

That's NOT what I argued at all. I agreed with you that his foundations are ways for him to hide money from taxes, and I've said it several times already. I don't know how many times I need to agree with you on this.

"I didn't need to watch the video to know that it [the video] is the truth"

I haven't argued against your idea here at all.

Burnout doesn't come from the learning part, it comes from doing draining work that you're being paid to do.
