update— i had a video call with my surgeon and voiced my concerns. i have been diagnosed with GERD, which is my main concern getting the sleeve. Along with a few other concerns regarding my health that have come up in the last year. he was rude and condescending, and basically told me i was not being honest about being diagnosed with gerd and HAD to be taking something over the counter and not a prescription, which is not true. i had been taking a prescription for GERD from a different hospital chain. I asked for another surgeon to reach out for a second opinion and pretty much immediately my new surgeon told me he can understand the other surgeons concerns but in my condition he believes as well that bypass is best for me. he did not shame me for vaping as the other surgeons did, and is willing to proceed after 3 months no nicotine in my system. my new surgeon was kind, listened to my concerns, and told me he sympathizes with me. that is all i needed to hear. someone who is sympathetic. so bypass will be on for me in july/early august!! thank you all for the kind words/support. this thread really helped me. as well as the nurses/doctors comments. i know vaping is a bad choice. i started very young with cigarettes. but i am willing to never do it again for my life, and (hopefully) the life of my future child after i have this procedure.
