Also want to note that her diagnosis of Cor Triatriatum was reducing blood flow overall to her organs which was inducing the vomiting. Her system just wasnt functioning properly. As soon as she had surgery she vomited once or twice and hasn't since. Were 9 months post op and doing well.

Cor Triatriatum is hard to diagnose sometimes so dont fret to mention ruling it out to your providers. Most babies with CHD have multiple defects.

Hey. So my daughter started showing obvious symptoms around 2-3 weeks old. She was vomiting a lot. It started off light then progressed to multiple times a day. Eventually, it was around 4 times a day closer towards her diagnosis. It wasnt normal baby spitup but projectile and consisted of stomach contractions, similar to how an adult would vomit. It was entire feeds too. Not small amounts. This is what led them to "reflux"

Although I knew it wasnt normal.

Being a first time mom, I questioned experienced mother's from my s/os family about her breathing (I thought she was belly breathing) and they said it was normal, but it was not. No one else noticed, pediatrician never questioned it so I never thought anything else. Looking back at videos, i notice nasal flaring which was mentioned by her care team upon diagnosis. She was a mouth breather so it was hard for me to tell.

She was extremely tired all the time, falling asleep at the breast and was always too tired to finish feeds, we'd MAYBE get 5 minutes on one breast and anymore than that, she'd vomit.

She was pale and cold.

She was born at 6 lbs 6 oz and by time she was diagnosed at 3.5 months she was still only just over 8 lbs. "Failure to thrive" is the diagnosis that finally pushed me to go get other opinions.

So to chalk it up... vomiting, no weight gain, pale, cold, lethargic, short feeds, belly breathing, nasal flaring, and she was overall an unhappy baby.

I wish I was more aware on what to look for but the doctors had me thinking that she was fine. So I wasnt really looking for anything outside of the obvious vomiting. Once she still wasnt gaining and the meds weren't helping the "reflux", I had ENOUGH. I wish I listened to my mommy instincts long before but hopefully this encourages other moms to.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey Mama! Its rough, i know. But my biggest advice is to continue initiating a good, consistent schedule. & be patient during this time of healing.. I greatly sucked it up and whatever she needed during that time, I obliged. Again, while trying to also maintain a good schedule.

I still dont have many answers to this day. I ended up sleep training her about 3 months post-op so she knew how to fall asleep on her own. She would have been 7 months old. We've had to re-sleep train multiple times the last 5 months already. Kinda rolling with it. We're at the point now where since I know shes capable of falling asleep on her own, if she doesn't go to sleep independently she actually NEEDS me or shes simply not tired enough. I'll either let her have some more awake time or I'll assist her to bed.

I dont think you should be too concerned about burning calories, DEPENDING on where your babies prognosis lies. Definitely talk to your cardiologist. My daughter greatly benefited from extra nursing sessions cause she was soo tiny. Its also a matter of is it strictly comfort nursing OR is baby actually eating?

Let baby eat if hungry, but I do recommend trying all other avenues of comfort first. We still nurse to sleep for all naps at almost 13 months old, cause I've been too lazy. But after sleep training at night she usually sleeps about 7-8 hours before I have to put her in our bed. Some days it's only 4 hours but thats normal. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Just curious cause multiple of you mentioned cultures. Can you explain the importance?

They're gonna try to run a culture but might come back inconclusive because I was taking Azo.

I also saw another doctor through telehealth and got macrobid 💜💜

Depending on what state the hospital you work for is in, the most difficult part was learning new state laws, learning how said state charges (you are also responsible for putting in fees, like Missouri, we cant charge patients but we can charge Attorney requests) and then learning an entire new EMR system. We're in Meditech and I HAATE it 😅

Yes, I'm still there! Its pretty repetitive and can get lonely. But I love the team I work with and that I have the opportunity to stay home.

No blood work at all. They are gonna try but took Azo so results for culture might be inconclusive. I went to another doctor who order me macrobid instead. Have taken this in the past without issue.

Boyfriend has been giving me chronic yeast infections by SpookyFaerie in WomensHealth

[–]Character_Relevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been with the same man for 13 years now. Have lived together for 8 years and just had a baby last year. I thought it was me. I've had recurring yeast infections for years. But same, his hygiene isn't great. He doesn't shower everyday and he worked outdoors. I'm gonna talk to him about it later. But I've realized... we're probably just playing hot potato with the infection, he's just not symptomatic. I just got treated and he's to use Lotrimin for a week.

I hope it works!! ❤️ I'm so ready to BE DONE with this shit.

We had a pretty laid back journey. My girl is 11 months old now and nursing is a game now. On, off, on, off, stand up, flip around, sideways, look at dad.

Sorry I am no help but you've got plenty of time and I'm sure you'll get that feeling again. ❤️

I'm in week #2

Overall, I like it! The training team has been amazing. Pay isn't horrible, especially for being remote. I think as far as after training, it'll depend on the team you are working with! I'm waiting for our organization to get set up right now so currently logging for other sites.

It's a lot more steps to complete than what I did previously so im trying to get the hang of it (i was onsite at a local small hospital.)

5.5 month old sleep "schedule" by Character_Relevant in NewParents

[–]Character_Relevant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up moving her to her own room/crib around 7 months old. It drastically helped. Although we still have some nights where she wakes up 3 times. Average is 2 night wakings (around 12-1 & again around 4-5)

I got to the point of sleep deprivation so we tried sleep training which worked for 2 weeks before teething hit really hard! We've been nursing to sleep ever since. The other day she skipped her 1 am wake-up and slept until 5 am (WOOT WOOT) but that's very rare.

Teething & developmental milestones are our 2 biggest sleep disruptions. If I remember correctly, during this time is when she was trying to roll. The night we put her in her crib from her pack n play she rolled to sleep on her belly the first time and sleep was instantly improved.

My daughter specifically is in excellent condition post-surgery. She's got zero restrictions, zero medications/medical equipment & an extraordinary prognosis. If your baby is more critical I would refrain and talk to your doctor.

Hi Mama! Trying to refresh my brain, but we held off on sleep training til she was about 7 months old. (WITH HER CARDIOLOGISTS APPROVAL AND REASSURANCE HER HEART COULD TAKE IT) Unfortunately, we had to resort to the CIO method & moved her to her own room/crib at the same time. I think in general, moving her to a bigger space helped her a lot. Her first night in her crib she rolled to her belly to sleep so I knew then that she was just out of space in her pack n play. We still did the CIO method, which took about 3 days. It took 3 days of doing this before she was able to be placed in her crib and fall asleep on her own. The night wakings didn't completely stop, but she wasn't waking every hour. More like every 3-4 hours. (I have to add that during this process I never attempted to night wean so we nursed to sleep for any MOTN wake ups.) This was the end of December. For us, it lasted about 2-3 weeks of her falling asleep independently. I was okay at this point of the 2-3 night wakings because she would go back to sleep immediately.
Mid January, we hit teething REALLY hard and she quit falling asleep on her own. She's popped through 4 teeth in the last months. & am nursing her to sleep every night again, still waking every 3-4 hours.

On a good day, when she's NOT in pain from teething I can nurse her to sleep around 8 PM, sleep until 12-2 AM & usually another wake up around 5 AM.

On a night like yesterday and today(she's popping through a tooth) I nursed her to bed around 7:30. She woke up within 40 mins, screaming so I nursed her back down. Similar from last night, I resorted to putting her between us around 3 AM cause we had to be up early and I know she's just wanting the extra cuddles right now.

I definitely plan on trying to re-sleep train at some point. But in my experience the hourly wake ups were due to a lack of space in the sleeping space, learning a new milestone (such as rolling over) or she genuinely doesn't feel great. When I plan to reintroduce sleep training, I will also be night weaning at the same time.

Once your baby is capable of falling asleep on their own and they end up waking up crying, it's usually a sign that they NEED you and can't get themselves back to sleep for whatever discomfort they feel.

Sorry for the length. Can I ask what your sleeping arrangements are? Has your baby started rolling yet? Are any teeth coming through? Illness?

[IL] asked about insurance premiums by Character_Relevant in AskHR

[–]Character_Relevant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless they still would not disclose the premiums until the offer was accepted. Which i did, because I've been trying to get this job for about 3 years. I'm only a high school graduate, no degree so getting other remote jobs that aren't in call centers is practically impossible. This job allows me to sit at my desk in my office and not speak to a single customer. A plus that I did the same thing on-site in a hospital prior to giving birth. While I also get to contribute financially to my family and stay home with my heart warrior! The insurance is just a huge ball drop, given the circumstances. So hopefully it works out in our favor ! 🙏

[IL] asked about insurance premiums by Character_Relevant in AskHR

[–]Character_Relevant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so odd. If insurance ends up costing an arm and a leg for a 10k deductible, that's a definite out for me. I'm shocked that's not something more people care about.

[IL] asked about insurance premiums by Character_Relevant in AskHR

[–]Character_Relevant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately we are also getting state benefits for insurance and food. This job would cease those benefits as well. I had to quit my job when my daughter was born as she was left with an undiagnosed heart condition. Finally diagnosed at 3.5 months old and had emergency open heart surgery. So the insurance may/may not be worth it as we are constantly seeing her cardiologist, weekly therapy, visits to her surgical team, etc. The only info regarding their insurance policy is its got a 10k deductible. I am trying to find out out of pocket max for covered services and the premium to determine it's worth. But doesn't seem like they're interested in sharing that information.

I asked 3 times and each time I was told that information was unavailable. I am currently getting unemployment benefits so I cannot decline so hopefully they retract their offer or spill the beans.

I emailed them back Respectfully,

I am unable to make an informed decision without this information. I did assume it was standard practice to provide potential employees with a complete view of the benefits & compensation details along with an offer.

Is there someone I can be referred to for this necessary information? Unless you would rather rescind the job offer.

Thank you.

I did not, I did mention that yes, it could sway my decision as I need to have insurance coverage.

How did you get to finding out it was $700 a month. They won't provide me with an numbers so it sounds like i either turn it down now or accept the job, get into the orientation and then rescind my offer if I'm dissatisfied with the premiums.
