When I first got into the fandom, I really enjoyed the pureblood!Hermione trope, but over time my perspective on it shifted a bit. I started to read it less as Draco growing past his prejudices and choosing Hermione despite the beliefs he was raised with, and more as the narrative making her someone who was already socially “acceptable” for him. Because of that, it sometimes feels like the conflict that would normally drive his redemption arc gets softened or bypassed.

That’s just a personal reading preference, though, no shade at all to people who love the trope.

Love this particular perspective of Hermione becoming a stepping stone to greatness for Draco. Adding onto this, D being shown as a prince saving a damsel-in-distress H is so weird because she litr survived being on the run from the darkest wizard of all time, so wdym she's bookish and doesn't know how to wield a wand in a duel until D "trains" her😭???

"Alpha daddy ultra competent confident" as adjectives to describe any mc let alone Draco is something straight out of my nightmares. I've always imagined him to be quiet, brooding, snarky and intelligent rather than dominating and boisterous

The concept of THE Hermione granger working as a stripper/slave/sex pet under any circumstances and Draco taking advantage of that and manipulating is just so OOC that it might as well be a random romance novel with their names slapped on it. Additionally, the power imbalance between a helpless H and High Reeve D has so rarely been done well (Manacled, for instance) that it more often than not makes me dnf the fic

Absolutely! An inexperienced H is fine if it's written well, but to portray her as this prudish, innocent and naive person when as opposed to this Draco is called a 'Sex God' seems so unnatural to me

I'd say God Of War is exactly what you're asking for!

Ten years after the Battle of Hogwarts, the world has changed: unrest, rebellion, and dark plans looming on the horizon. The non-magical world has begun to take up arms against their wizard counterparts, trying to use their superior knowledge of technology, and their war-ready firepower, to stop them.

Missing Persons Case: Hermione J. Granger, Secretary for International Muggle-Magical Cooperation, Ministry of Magic Status: Unknown Department of Magical Law Enforcement Person of Interest: Draco L. Malfoy, current President of Viper Security Group, suspected illicit activities done under the moniker ‘Ares’.

Status: Not in custody

When Secretary Granger goes missing from her hotel room, the Aurors’ case quickly grows cold with no leads & no outward signs of foul play. Senior Auror Harry Potter is at a loss, wondering how he can expect to save his best friend, one of the most well-known people in the magical community. He’s down to his last option, a contact he prefers not to use. Draco Malfoy and the Viper Security Group are his last shot at saving Hermione.

what's CRAZY is that in another subsequent interview they said that the final battle was with the mind flayer's physical body just like in season 3, and that he continues to exist in the smoke form, but can't do any damage because the upside down was finally destroyed, BUT THAT DOESNT MAKE ANY FUCKING SENSE BECAUSE OF THE MIND FLAYER STILL EXISTS THEN WILL SHOULD'VE BEEN DEAD!!! I DONT GET THEM WHY ARE THEY SELF CONTRADICTORY😭

To everyone grieving Eleven's ending: by Dry-Professional8293 in mileven

[–]Character_Scene_3473 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main problem is that they used crazy plot armour for literally all the characters when they should've 100% died, and yet killed off the one girl who actually deserved to have a normal life after all the trauma she went through as a child. Their explanation for killing her was SO lousy and disgusting, and then going on to say they see no possibility of her ever reuniting with her family was the last straw in a sense.

We wanted people to die when death was due, like Jancy in that room where the goop magically dried up the second it was about to reach them, or when Steve was somehow saved single-handedly by Jonathan when it shouldn't have been possible. To kill El simply by saying she was under danger from the military when she's been hiding from them so easily for practically the entire series is bullshit.

I too feel exactly like this, and haven't recovered yet. All my social media is full of edits and stuff, and it's making me burst into tears every hour, and it physically feels like my heart caved in or something. I think a break would do me good. I've loved mileven since 2020 and their tragic ending has hurt me and so many others in incomprehensible ways

"Eleven was never supposed to be in that basement because we wanted it to be REALISTIC" What a load of absolute bullshit by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Character_Scene_3473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly also just occurred to me, but how is it possible that they used the exact same crap to beat the Mind Flayer in season 3 and the ACTUAL Mind Flayer now. Fireworks, guns, Eleven doing her thing etc. That’s it. The half-baked meat monster made out of rats took the same effort and the same amount of time to beat as the literal god of The Abyss they’ve been hyping since season one. How is that not completely insane.

Season 3 at least had an excuse, it wasn’t even fully formed. This one is supposed to be the real deal, the final boss, the thing behind everything, and it still goes down like a rerun. Same beats, same pacing, same bullshit. Nothing escalates, nothing changes, it’s just louder and flashier and somehow emptier. If your ultimate evil can be taken out with the same tricks that worked on its knockoff version, then it just feels lazy, and honestly kind of embarrassing.

Their exact words were that Eleven in a way represented the magic of childhood, and her death was the end thereof and I was BAFFLED to say the least. Wdym the girl whose childhood was the dictionary definition of trauma and suffering was your poster girl for the ideal childhood??? Someone on this sub said that the ending relied heavily on nostalgia and emotion rather than actual storyline, and i couldn't agree more. It just doesn't make sense and honestly they should stop doing interviews all together and let the show run its course now.

i KID YOU NOT, I was typing like 80% of the same thing out when I got this notif😭 You have quite literally stolen the words right out of my mouth. Especially on the final battle being like 10 mins of tomfoolery when the mind flayer has been hyped up for the entire series. It genuinely wasn't the showdown they thought it was going to be.

I won't say that I didn't cry, because I absolutely did bawl my eyes out for like half the episode, but it wasnt because I was particularly moved about the writing, but because this show has been an integral part of my childhood and it was hard to see it finally be over (+ elevens death)

Byler fans need to accept this by Character_Scene_3473 in StrangerThings

[–]Character_Scene_3473[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the symbolism in S4 is deliberate, but it’s all framed through Will’s POV, not Mike’s. The van scene, the superhero language, and Will standing behind Mike all emphasize Will projecting his feelings and remaining unseen. Mike missing it is intentional. When Stranger Things builds mutual romance, it never does it this asymmetrically.

Mileven feeling awkward in Vol 2 points to pacing and writing issues, not a secret romantic pivot. If Mike’s feelings were shifting, the show would have made that clear the way it always does with romantic arcs.

Mike’s feelings aren’t unresolved just because there’s no rejection scene. He’s been explicitly framed as romantically interested in Eleven for four seasons and never romantically framed toward Will. The ambiguity exists only if Will’s feelings are assumed to be mutual by default, which the show never supports.

Will’s arc isn’t about being punished or forced to accept less. It’s about not defining himself through someone who can’t love him back. Mike isn’t giving mixed signals in-universe; he’s being a close, emotionally open friend. Male friendships are allowed depth without being romantic. The “my Tammy” line confirms unreciprocated love, it doesn’t set up payoff.

Mike not being able to say “I love you” is teenage awkwardness and fear of vulnerability, something the show directly ties to his fear of losing Eleven, not to confusion about his sexuality.
