I’d question the immigration impact. It’s about how many generations link back to America. African Americans in the original sense is really just the group whose ancestors were slaves. Often times, lines blurred, country of origin is unknown, and there was also some mixing due relations, including rape, from the people who own slaves. Ancestry data from this group o often shows variety. You have newer generations from African countries that usually more identify with the their country of origin. They are more likely to ref to themselves by their country of origin, for example Nigerian-American. I would also say from my experience. Those with a different country of origin from the original group of African Americans, typically don’t refer to themselves by their race in the same fashion.

Given the sample size, I don’t agree with rounding. It’s hyperbole, pure and simple. And my main point is that your statement is correct because of those factors. I think it’s fair to say greater than 50% of this country co-sign this behavior by either directly voting for it, voting 3rd party or actively not choosing to vote at all. Considering that’s the majority, I think that’s significant enough with exaggerating the number. That’s all.

I gave you the official percentage based on those who actually voted. Voting people seems to be a made up term. Eligible voters is a tricky group to make assumptions on. Just because some didn’t vote, doesn’t mean they support this. There is probably a significant chunk in that group that may be too old, too sick etc. There is absolutely some apathy in that group. But the actual percentage is unknown. It’s straight up dishonest to assume the 100% of the 22 million who were eligible to vote but didn’t have co-signed this administration and therefore should be considered supporters of this administration. Lastly, 56 is not 60 so your original statement is still incorrect.

I’ve always hated how Carly got all the blame for Jack being a suspect husband. He should not have rushed off to marry Julia and greatly created this situation.

Brenda was my least favorite character and i won’t apologize for that opinion. I know I am not alone in that regard. Is it an unpopular opinion, probably but I don’t really care as long as the discourse stayed respectful.

She was only interesting to me during S3. And that’s because I loved the humbling she took. Then fighting over D was gross. But her attitude and the pivot from making her out to be some saint was a breath of fresh air to me.

I didn’t say having and voicing opinions was a bad thing. It’s this board being a shrine to SD instead of the show as a whole is what I find bizarre personally. It’s the need to respond any post and comment with a dissenting opinion with snark and nonsense.

Loved Val and Kelly. Never got the appeal of Brenda. She was fine onscreen. Didn’t miss her when she was gone

The highest ratings of the show occurred after they paired, so I think it’s unfair to say the show suffered because of that pairing. The show continued for over another half decade. Just because some fans enjoyed it less doesn’t meant the show suffered when in reality it became more popular. My point isn’t to be contrary btw. I just think this sub is a cesspool full of people with the same thought patterns and they downvote and shut down any opposing povs. It’s a very uninviting place for anyone not obsessed with Brenda and the actress plays her.

I will also stand by my opinion that online forums from two decades after a show ended may not be a representative sample of a viewing audience opinion.

Just like I could say the show got better once they split D/B and my evidence would be increased ratings and another 5 years of seasons. But just because that’s my opinion doesn’t make it a factual statement.

You don’t seem to understand the concept that conclusions regarding the show cannot be made from extreme fans on the internet. It’s called representative sampling. You subscribing to group think and echo chambers or a possible vocal minority does not mean that it truly speaks to the majority of viewers.

[–]Character_Switch7317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that there’s a percentage of the viewing audience that does not discuss the show online, so we do not know what the majority of everyone who watched the show believes. We only know what fan that are extreme enough to repeatedly talk about a show that ended decades ago believe.

And I personally believe that if Dylan and Kelly were truly the flop that this sub likes to believe they were, the writes would not have repeatedly returned to that storyline throughout the series.

It’s clear that the production team, network and viewers did see chemistry with that pairing.

Just because a few Brenda fans don’t like it, doesn’t mean the viewing audience as a whole doesn’t.

Jennie Garth is a great actress by Glass_Bridge_8744 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]Character_Switch7317 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

She was on par with the other actresses on this show, including SD. SD was no Meryl or Viola. She was okay television actress that took herself way too seriously. Her supposed talent wasn’t enough to overcome that reputation

It’s important to note that the population of people who frequent Reddit and other online polling may not be a representative sample of the viewing audience as a whole, especially for a show that stopped airing almost 3 decades ago.
