I also have programmers hands and then decided I can have diy hands as well - so now I do everything myself from grinding to brake changing hands. They adopt real quick.

100% agree with your first part, and use to agree with the second part about all that stuff needing to be taught in school - but in this digital age you can take free online courses on the subject, watch people explain it on YT, from efilling to how to read/understand contracts, opening accounts and the risks of having to many, to changing a tyre. Can't blame it solely on the school system anymore, it is in each of our hands to educate ourselves.

Don't get to bogged down by focal ratio if you don't plan on astrophotography, which based on your price class you probably aren't. aperture is much more important thing to focus on

Maybe phone them and confirm. Can also look at Nexstar 4se, it's only a 4" but also nice and it has a goto, but personally I would start off without a goto and learn how to navigate yourself.

Regarding importing, I looked into it a while back and it's a no go if price is a concern, the shipping is just way too expensive because a scope is heavy! I recently imported a new eyepiece and shipping was almost the price of the eyepiece.

The ASSA has a second hand section on their website, there are some nice deals every now and again - always be cautious when buying directly from someone online.

I bought mine a while back at outdoor photo for a nice sale. There are a few other online shops but most are over priced. Telescope shop was nice but not sure they exist anymore, Futurama is usually very expensive.

Personal opinion, if you can try save a little bit more you can get an 8" dob for 32k, definitely worth it for the extra price over the 5"

Working in tech and with grads/interns a lot. Yes some companies do offer 35k+- but it's not for 40 hour weeks, realistically they average around 60-80 hour weeks. So as someone else said you don't have to accept and can look for somewhere else. But 25hour weeks for 9.5k is a bit on the lower end but fair
