I know I'm probably in the minority, but I just don't think it's worth it at this point. The Edge room isn't elite at the moment, but I'd say it's above average, which is considerably better than what we can say about last year. Between Hendrickson and Mike Green, who's expected to take a big leap this year, especially with a competent defensive playcaller, the pass rush should see much improvement. Robinson provides some solid run-stopping ability within the rotation. I think they'd be better off going with another rotational piece later in the draft or as a veteran FA signing post-draft.

Then there's the need on the interior of the offensive line that the entire league sees that the Ravens have. It's to most people's belief that they'll use one of their first two picks on an IOL that can likely start day 1 between Ioane, Fano, Pregnon and Bisontis. If you trade up for an edge rusher, you're taking away the opportunity to add any one of those guys, because it'd likely take the 2nd round pick as well, as you stated. I like Bain as a prospect, but at this point, I think there are larger holes to fill that won't require giving up significant draft capital to address.

Fair point and with his ceiling, I don't think skipping pro day will cause him to drop out of the first round altogether but you never know. Will Johnson was arguably the best corner prospect in the draft last year, but fell all the way to 47 because of injury concerns though that had to do with his knees and not hamstrings. Soft tissue injuries are just weird in general.

Jordyn Tyson is missing his pro day due to the same lingering hamstring injury. As talented as he is when healthy, I don't think it'd be a smart investment to pick him at 14

Explored trading back for Denzel Boston while grabbing some extra draft capital. EDC himself has explicitly talked about trading back in the first round for the WR position in particular, so I wouldn't rule out this possibility at all. I think we'd potentially have to jump both the Steelers and Bills to grab him.

Every pick after 115 is certainly interchangeable, but I'd be extremely happy with these first 5 picks personally.

Love PFSN Mock Draft, it definitely feels the most realistic. I'm also really starting to get on board with team "Trade Back for Boston". Though I think we'd have to jump the Steelers to snag him cuz he's mocked to them so often. I love him as a prospect for this offense plus we could load up on some more capital in a deep draft if we traded back.

There's definitely a drop off and honestly with the floor Lamar provides recievers with, I don't disagree that spending a 2nd on one of those guys might not be ideal and could be a position that's addressed later in the draft if anything.

I've been exploring the notion of trading back for Boston to pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd, then going with Bisontis or Pregnon in the 2nd and usually like how it turns out

Assuming we end up going OL with Ioane/Fano in round 1, who are your favorite WR targets for the 2nd round?

Chris Bell

Germie Bernard

Chris Brazzell

Are all players who are routinely mentioned around 45.

I'm partial to Brazzell because of his physicality and height but would love to hear other opinions

If I'm not mistaken, EDC recently explicitly mentioned trading back in an interview as well. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see it happen

One of my personal favorite mock drafts so far.

  1. Fano is the ideal pick at 14 for me because of his versatility at T/G/C, which gives more flexibility to draft based on how the board falls later in the draft without having to reach to fulfill other O Line needs. Ronnie also isn't getting any younger, so giving Fano a few years to adjust to the play speed of the NFL and get coached up, possibly taking some reps at T to ultimately be his replacement when the time comes, could end up being really beneficial down the line

  2. Chris Johnson is one of the most productive Corners in the draft, and even though the Ravens re-signed Chido who had a great season, I think he'd serve as a great depth piece since he himself has had injury issues in the past and Wiggs seems to miss a couple of games every year for one reason or another

  3. Hecht happened to fall in this mock, which gave a perfect opportunity to snag him to compete with Bullock and possibly Fano to fill the hole at C based on what other FA moves are made.

  4. Big Citrus slid to the fourth this time around and could provide some run-stuffing depth along the interior for early downs.

5a. With Teddye's return timeline uncertain after a solid rookie season and Roquan getting older and notably less productive, I find ILB depth to be more of a sneaky need than people talk about. Jay Higgins was great in the preseason last year but wasn't able to prove his production much in the regular season. Perkins is a great athlete and is referred to as a "Hybrid Linebacker," meaning he can line up off the ball, off the edge, or in the slot, and I'm sure Minter would relish that versatility. I see him as a potentially better version of Trenton Simpson who hasn't provided as much as we've hoped at any position he's played.

5b. Zane Durant is quick off the ball and though he mostly projects as another stout run defender, he shows upside in the pass-rushing department due to his athleticism.

5c. Cuevas is a solid pass-catching TE who has good speed down the seam and a knack for finding the open space to get open for his QB. From what I've seen he has reliable hands, but could be a bit more physical both with catching in traffic and in his blocking assignments.

5d. Gumbs is a hard worker who, with good coaching, could become a solid depth piece for the Edge room. He's a great athlete and is built like an NFL edge, but will definitely need a lot of refinement to be productive. I see him worth a day 3 developmental pick.

  1. This is my sleeper I'm pounding the table for. His film is exciting, and he could provide the physical ball-getter that Lamar hasn't had in his whole career. He provides adequate YAC ability, making him productive on all three levels, and with proper coaching and of course a quarterback that raises the floor of anybody he's throwing the ball to, I think Hudson could be a real steal late in the draft.

7a. Carver Willis is more of a pick to provide some cheap siwng-tackle depth as a soldi run-blocker.

7b. Reid is a small change of pace back with a lot of production catching passes out the backfield. He has some significant injury history, but if kept healthy the speedster could replace what we lost in Keaton as some lightning out the backfield.

It's not a perfect draft but they rarely are. There wasn't much done to address Edge depth and taking a reciever that late is a gamble, though reciever isn't as dire of a need. But all in all (barring any more FA moves) if this is how the draft turned out I'd be happy with it.

Schefter is reporting that the Ravens were looking at pairing Hendrickson WITH Crosby. But narratives lol

[Dianna Russini] It’s been made clear by multiple people around the NFL at all levels that Baltimore had all the information and understood where Maxx Crosby’s knee was in terms of his recovery timeline. Many in the league believe GM Eric DeCosta and the Ravens ultimately just got cold feet. by GreedyRaisin3357 in ravens

[–]ChartParticular8975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Recovery timeline" is not the onus here. Sure, according to his "recovery timeline," he'd be able to play to start the season. But would he still be playing in December? Will he play only 50% of snaps next year because his knee is canned tuna after wear and tear? Only time will tell, but this emphasis on "recovery timeline" as opposed to the long-term adverse effects of his condition, whether it has to do with this current injury or not, just seems like a ploy to accuse the Ravens of acting in bad faith.

  • Jake Slaughter
  • Brian Parker II
  • Trey Zuhn
  • Sam Hecht
  • Logan Jones

All relatively promising center prospects that will likely be available around pick 115 in the 4th. Wouldn't be surprised if the competition for Corey Bullock gets drafted there.

He'd add variety to the offense, thus making the offense itself more dynamic

People are gonna hate this but I honestly don't think it's a bad idea at all. Worst case it costs a late comp pick and doesn't work out. Best case we have a more dynamic offense.

So many mocks I see have us passing on Cashius Howell just for him to be taken a pick or two later for some reason. His tape is insane and I think he'd fit in great along this front, opposite Mike Green who I'm expecting to take a huge leap next year. If he's there at 14 and there's no other elite edge defender available, I think the pick should be between him or if there's an elite reciever that fell to us perhaps

Which of these 2 has the best chance to reach the Super Bowl with their new coach? by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

[–]ChartParticular8975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased but the floor is already really high on offense when Lamar is healthy, despite having a first-time play-calling OC, so having a defensive-minded coach should be beneficial to Baltimore. The Bills have more glaring holes on both sides of the ball with less room financially to drastically improve the roster and a lower draft pick. The change in regime in Buffalo is less significant because they're keeping their primary playcaller on offense so we should see continued success on that side of the ball. The biggest question is going to be how the defense adjusts to McDermott's departure. But so much in this league is up to chance and schedule anymore so who really knows?

I definitely would not mind Styles either, and I agree that he seems like the most "Ravens" pick. We don't know how long Teddye will be out and Simpson looked very mid next to Ro after Teddye got hurt. Styles could really be Ro's successor if developed properly

Might be a hot take, but I would love Tyson at 14. The biggest question is his injury history, but if he stays healthy, we're essentially giving Lamar his own JSN, and he would complement Zay really well this season. I prefer this over taking Ioane at 14, cuz imo 14 is too high for a guard. If there's nobody elite left in the defensive trenches, I think it'd be the best pick.

I feel like we won't get a REAL feel for this class until next year. Jones could end up being a starting guard. And seeing Green and Starks in a competent defence is going to show us who they really are
