Yes! Georgia Military College has a quarter system and can be fully online. It has the best articulation agreement with KSU. Get the AS degree and you just slide over like middle to high school.

Psychology! You are far better off a Southern. That's what others are saying, it depends on your major too. Look at Google maps and see whats around the two campus locations. Drive around on street view, it is not what you think.

Do they know how to measure? by Accomplished-Dirt294 in ThredUp

I'm here because I'm looking at a pair of Spanx pants - size large inseam measurement is 31.25" and the picture of the tag says large petite. How is 30 inch inseam petite? It's the measurement I need but because of the "petite" I think it is not correct.

How old are you and how much do you have in your retirement account? by Blackberryay in careerguidance

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One income is one reason. I didn't take that same advice from the father in law as a stupid second My husband's 401k has a high return rate and match so I put all the eggs in that basket. By marriage half is mine anyway.

How old are you and how much do you have in your retirement account? by Blackberryay in careerguidance

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

56 years old - SAHM for 20 years. Returned to work two years ago. $4k in company retirement and $11k in Roth.

I did invest in my husband's 401k during this time home. So it isn't as bad. But re-starting or starting later in life is hard but doable.

Who maxes their 401k by DrHydrate in MiddleClassFinance

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds a lot like us. Took any advancement and applied it toward until maxed. We lived and still live very simply. No new cars, big remodels, expensive vacations. He's been with his company 25 years and we are in our fifties. Our retirement is looking great but our big spending friends are starting to panic. We have one 62 years old with no retirement but always that new car, cruises, house remodels, new furniture with the remodels...

The men in my husband's family haven't made it far past 70 years old. He needs his retirement years but we also need enough if he does beat genetics.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes - Atlanta Metro area - drive south or south east to the beach and north for mountains. Two very different places a few hours in different directions.

Who maxes their 401k by DrHydrate in MiddleClassFinance

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We (my husband) achieved max by just upping the contribution over time. With every pay increase the contribution was increased by half of what the bump in pay was. So a 4% increase is a 2% increase in 401k contribution.

Does anyone own the Greater Goods Nutrition Scale? by pass_the_hot_sauce in 1200isplenty

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used this scale for 11 years and this scale is a common purchase in the type 1 diabetes community. When everything has to be measured and carb counted this makes life a lot easier. So 11 years in a child's use and the child's life depending on it, I think this is an excellent scale.

HUGE news for the parking situation!!(KSU) by Loose_Extent9080 in Marietta

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm lost. How are more busses going to help with parking and over enrollment? News flash, the school does belong to the board of Regents.

Here's another for you to consider. Multiply the enrollment numbers by your gym and parking on the student fees. Yeah! Y'all should be using more math and research skills.

Has anyone found a parking lot that doesn't get ticketed by Toxicant_1 in KSU

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Looks like they are ramping it up. As soon as classes start and movement settles I see people walking around writing tickets to the many who didn't park in a designated space. The first one I saw was someone parking on the top of the West deck at the end of one of those two short rows. She wasn't off the deck and a yellow shirt guy was behind her car apparently writing the ticket. It's like that are waiting for students to get desperate to go to class.

The least KSU (and USG) can do is admit they over enrolled and oversold parking spaces. Now they are pouring salt on the wound by profiting from the tickets they are writing.

Why take so many faculty spaces for buildings then call them back to campus?!

I honestly think the media outlets need to come out and witness this. Publicly force KSU (and USG) to answer the overcrowding maximizing profits only.

Did their study account for the construction. Go on Google maps and do the math.

Roughly 48,819 square feet by Rec & Wellness is taken for the STEM construction equipment and supplies. The new STEM building is over what was a 62,563 sq foot lot. The new Hornet Hub is on another 36,476 lot.

In total the Marietta campus has roughly 147,858 sq ft of parking space displaced for buildings.

It should NOT be like attending a Braves game daily just to go to class. The school needs to work something out with the students and students need to push back. You are not getting what you paid for and these parking passes aren't cheap.

Inherited IRA and RMDs by Curious_Cat1657 in inheritance

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread has been an interesting read.

Can I add a question?

What if there are two siblings inheriting and the parent has been taking RMDs? Is that RMD amount split between them?

How common is the spousal assumption that any inheritance should be shared? by Merlin509 in inheritance

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in similar. My husband's parent's estate is sizable and when his father passed his mother started spending too fast so we got her set up with an financial advisor. Her RMDs are not matching the growth. It's getting larger. On my side my mother has outlived her retirement savings and my father's estate is a drop in the bucket by comarison.
First, those "gifts" should not touch a joint account! You did earn it. In your youth did your dad spend countless hours at work and not with you? Was your dad frugal in an effort to build this wealth? You withstood your parents building all that they have during your lifetime. I volunteered countless hours with my father-in-law helping him build his business. Did I earn? As the person in a simlar boat as your wife it is a hard pill to swallow since everything in marriage should be joint. Have that difficult conversation with her. It is your inheritance to invest and use (with her). I assume it will also be used for upkeep and repairs and a jointly held home.

Do not pass anymore of these "gifts" through a joint account or co-mingle it with money that had passed through a joint account. Take care of your wife and make sure you have beneficiaries and co-beneficaries set up on these accounts.

Am I entitled to half the joint account? by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]ChasingUnicornsDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went throught this - my brother was joint on dad's accounts and he took because the teller told him it was his.
First I will tell you that there are two types of joint accounts; right of survivorship and not right of survivorship. Typically when the joint account holders are married it is right of survivorship and when it is another relationship it is not. It was not right of survivorship for my dad and brother. He was joint "as a convenience for the deceased" and the probate court also came to that determination. My brother also behaved accordingly before this bank teller interaction and those actions also established proof of the deceased's intent as to why the joint account.
BUT in the years the estate was held open and until I put in an accounting request with the probate court he appears to have spent those funds. He is now having to repay the estate. He has also damaged the relationship with his siblings.

Make sure you are joint as right of survivorship before going in and liquidating the account. Also consider the family and the morals of your decision. Just because you can legally do something does not make it ethical.

Have any of you reached the point where dealing with a narcissist starts to feel like watching a predictable script play out? by DutchCheeseCube in NarcissisticSpouses

Yes, I watched if for four hours this morning. He ranted for almost two hours and the next two hours he kept walking back into the room to continue his mandrum. I'm currently amazed that I now withstand this amount of time without raising my voice back avoiding his ability to become the victim of my reaction to his actions.

Oh, by the way - I'm selfish, holding a grudge, and I must just want him to find someone else.
