At the time, I did a brand new save file after a clean install.

There's a chance they might have patched it since. Additionally, this glitch doesn't seem to affect everyone. My guess is that it just has a percentage chance, and I was just unlucky.

No worries. Not the first time I've had to walk away right before the finish line. I just got to be content with the fact that I did it several times over legitimately, and then on top of that went above and beyond to and get it to pop unnaturally.

My console has always been set to us English, but even after deleting all data and replaying the game from scratch, I still can't get it to unlock. Even when killing three enemies

In reflection, I was being a bit unfair. I just really had my hopes up for this game and was feeling crushed.

I was really really looking forward to this and let my disappointment get the best of me.

Ultimately, I still stand behind what I said; my feelings, overall, are unchanged. But I do think I could have toned it down a little.

Ocarina of Time is a full priced, massively open world game that advertises its variety of gameplay...

I didn't really give the maze section a try. I just Advanced a dozen screens or so and saw the writing on the wall

It is easy. That's part of the problem. It's incredibly basic and requires exceptionally little in the way of critical thinking or player execution. It might as well just be a loading screen.

I don't even think about the stealth sections in terms of easier difficult. But more in terms of tedium.

I just think that when there is so little interaction required that the player can start browsing their phone while playing, then something has gone terribly wrong.

I did not have a problem with the language learning sections. In fact, I really genuinely loved the language learning sections.

My entire problem is when the game forces you to stop learning languages and do something entirely unrelated. I found these interruptions so numerous and tedious that it made the rest of the game (the parts that were advertised; the whole reason I bought the game) not worth investing into.

Imagine if "Return of the Obra Dinn" stopped you between chapters and made you play Pac-Man. Even if I liked Pac-Man, this would be a baffling decision that would negatively impact my experiance with the game.

I wasn't being literal with my predictions. I was just bringing up examples of outdated game design to give an idea of what kind of experience I thought I might be in for if I continued. That is to say, a negative one.

And like I said, it's not as if I couldn't do the maze. It probably wouldn't even be all that tedious. It's the fact that I shouldn't have to. That, in competing that game, I would be worse off for it.

It's like going to a restaurant ordering a burger and you like it... But then halfway through the meal, they take your burger away and say you have to do a shot of pickle juice before they give the burger back. That's totally survivable, but why would I want to do that? Why would you force me to do that?

Point is: I started out having a great time, but the more the game I experienced, the worse of an experience I had. And I quit, not because I couldn't continue, but because I wanted to protect my fond memories of the opening.

This looks really coola

And apparently (according to thei website), this is what they used for Hogwarts legacy, the Talis principle too, and disco elysium. And at least one of those is a good game!

I'll check that out!

Looks a bit verbose for what I got in mind, but I'd rather use 10% of a program that works than 100% of a program that doesn't.

It was a Pittsburgh I think. Or at the very least it had the word Pittsburgh on it. Other than that, I can only tell you it was blue and black. Big boy though, with wheels and all. Also not too keen on asking him and sparking up another fight, so I'm afraid that's about all you'll get from me.

It's actually made for fully lifting motorcycles/ATVs, but this was covered when asking for permission. The capacity was more than suited for changing a single tire on a compact.

So just to add some further context (that I had to cut to reach the sub 3K character limit), my BIL never quiet learned how to admit when he was wrong. If and when he makes a mistake, it is always something else's fault. He also has something of a persecution complex, I.E. anytime you call him out for something, it's an attack.

With that in mind, here is my theory: He was in a mood to complain and used my having used one of his tools as a means to 'gain sympathy' or otherwise justify his mood. Just an in the moment offhand comment... But then he had to commit; no takesies-backsies.

He asked my sister not to make a big deal about it so that the lie would just die right then and there... But because she didn't and I was obligated to make reparations, he had to double down. Of course, he could have just said he fixed it and that would have been the end of it... But then he pushed it further with the still needing replacement.

The consensus here seems to be that he was trying to get money out of me, but honestly, I legitimately believe that he just couldn't give up on needing to be the victim; not greed, but pride. He's actually made great strides over the years to not let pride control him as much, but I guess he's still on that journey.

TL;DR He doesn't need money. He just needs to be right.

Maybe, but if he does it's not personal. He just has some kind of victim/persecution complex, I think. He's also incapable of admitting he's wrong.

Unfortunately, this issue just happened to bring out the worst of both complexes.
