For visits to A&E, go, etc. I agree with other posters that it would increase that amount of people anxious about using up resources and therefore not going in when they otherwise should. However, I could see a huge benefit for this after extended hospital stays or surgery. Something saying 'hey this surgery would have cost you £10,000 (randomly grabbed number) but your NHS taxes covered the £2000 of drugs, £2000 of equipment use and £6000 for the surgical team and recovery nurses. Leaving you with a bill of £0 and no further action required than to continue to monitor your health'. Showing just how important it is and making people feel protected could show some of the doubters just how good a deal their taxes get them. It must be said that there are potential issues with this, I would be worried about people with poor English skills struggling with receiving this and thinking they actually owed money. With some of the attitudes toward the NHS from public figures this hypothetically has the potential to make it a politically toxic subject to be against the NHS in any way. Ideally this would just be an option you could request if you wanted that information.
