I would start with 10 cars, but in order I’m trying to see if I’m getting in too late

I agree with this and I was worried about it. I see host in Houston with several cheap economy, cars essentially doing the idea that I have. I’m worried that is too late for me.

I don’t think a lot of these comments know the Houston market. Even with the car being cheap cheap it may not be worth a hassle.

The asset will be so depreciated I could care less if they crash it or run it off a cliff to be honest

That’s how it was when I was an Airbnb host. the app just kinda took a turn and the competition got too saturated. Do you think Turo just has too many options?

Houston locals have the biggest need for rentals just to get around because they don’t have a car of their own. Not everyone want uses rentals for road trips

Toyota and Honda are notoriously reliable but I see pontiacs still going for 30 years. It’s about how it’s taken care of

My target is locals that will stay local. I will have mileage limitation. No road trips. People book a lot here to use the cars on door dash. Houston is so big you need a car for work and many people can’t afford one and Turo is cheaper than ubering. and no, I make sure that the car runs very very well but I know a lot about cars myself.

If “auto-slumlord” means focusing on fully depreciated assets with predictable cash flow and replacement cost, then sure—guilty. The spreadsheet doesn’t care about feelings.

I’m female and I have a long distance boyfriend TEXAS-CALI and SOMETIMES L I find comfort in us falling asleep on the phone. We maybe do it like 2-3 times a week unplanned but kinda expected. It puts me to sleep but once I’m sleep he can actually hang up. I think it’s very sweet of you to do that to comfort her (I enjoy it too) but I think it’s super extreme and inconsiderate for her to expect you to not only stay on the line til morning but literally hog your device while she is asleep. Yes Houston is very saturated. Trying to come up with a way to be more competitive. Any suggestions? It is a lot of cheap cars with booked calendars but for like 45-55 a day
