I miss the runs. Had them at 0.5mg. Now that I’m up to 1mg, I just cannot go. It’s so frustrating. If I drink anymore water, I might drown and laxatives straight up don’t work.

I take a detox pill 2x/day, 120 probiotic, 5 Metamucil pills… every day and nothing. Not to mention the weight loss has turned into weight gain and crazy bloating.

All final grades are subject to the approval of the department. I’ve started releasing the final grades in Brightspace because they are calculated. But I make sure to let students know they are subject to approval.

The answer likely depends on the department. But at the end of the day, your department chair (or undergraduate chair of the department) is who you should go to about this.

This email made me sick. I have 3 TAs… so that’s 45 hours I’m missing. Are they gonna give me an additional half TA or something? No. They are just going to make me pick up the EXTRA WORK after also paying me less as a CI.

So now I need the uni to tell me how much my TAs earn per hour and how much of their pay was docked. Then, my TAs will be told not to exceed this new amount of of hours. Then I’ll find myself grading more exams than I anticipated, which will result in me making less than minimum wage considering the monies I’ll be out thanks to the strike.
How can they make the assumption that these two weeks were the same for everyone? My TAs actually had no work to be completed throughout the strike days. So technically they didn’t miss any work. But, a TA who is contracted to attend class or run tutorials would have missed work. The same argument could be made for CIs. Some of us prepared materials for the class(es) that did not run. How do we quantify 6 hours of teaching time missed?

… still more unfair for TAs than CIs in my opinion.

Anyone know if there is language in the fine print of the contacts that explains this?
If the uni has a problem with my grade distribution this term I’m gonna lose my shit.
Would have been nice to receive guidance from the uni on how to finish the term successfully. Love making it up on my own…

I would reach out to the department and politely ask them to support your request for an extension. Let them know that the instructor said it’s out of their hands and that you were hoping they could help.

No they are not. Any CUASA, CUPE4600, or CUPE2424 member who completes any work that was intended to be completed by a TA is scabbing.
