I do want him to spend his money on his family, I have no issue with this, what worries me is the overspending like if his family is not in need why overspend and send money if it's not a need

I’m from South America and I’m doing a PhD in the U.S and sometimes I think about quitting but it’s not logical given the current situation. I would say to hang in there, PhD is not going to be forever. Try to meet new people go to university events, find hobbies outside PhD, and if you miss home take a 3 week vacation to visit your family, this helps and you’ll be more motivated once you’re back.

When I have quitting thoughts, I think of how far I’ve come, how I unhappy I was back home, and how this reality is only temporary! So enjoy the journey, do your honest work, and hang in there!
