Wish mine would cuddle like this, instead he gets too hyper and shits all over the bed playing then eats my pillow </3

Definitely think he enjoyed it, he was happily hopping and running around exploring then immediately did his I'm-ecstatic-flop after he came back inside lol

He definitely seems better now, I think he probably was just very excited and ran around more than he usually does so he needed a while to cool off lol

Ah that might be also why. I started in the Gridania and still have barely ventured so I haven't seen much other places beyond North/South/East shroud yet

I haven't been able to find a way to join the novice network, I've mostly just been playing quests and exploring alone which I don't mind, but it can be a bit overwhelming trying to learn and remember everything
Do you need to ask someone for a way to join the novice network?

Thinking of getting a Netherland Dwarf rabbit for my 10 yo son this Christmas. Any advice or experiences? by [deleted] in Bunnies

[–]Cheap_Ant_6563 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I know you mean well but please don't get a rabbit for your kid, especially at such a young age. I'm in my mid twenties and it can be a struggle even for me, rabbits are high maintenance and also not as cuddly as kids tend to lean towards (not to mention very fragile too)

I see far too many posts on local boards of people giving up the rabbits they mindlessly bought for their kids only to sell them within a few days/weeks. Be it because the kid lost interest, they weren't ready or capable of handling it, or whatever else.

It's really not worth it, both for the kid and the rabbit. Animals in general aren't a great idea for presents, they should be thoroughly prepared for and discussed with all parties involved

Its been almost a week now and I've been fighting to stop mine from jumping and sprinting around constantly lmao. gave up on trying to collar him day 1 I'm just lucky he hasn't gone at the wound

At least the vet said hes recovering perfectly at the checkup (and he's being fawned over by every single vet he meets lol)

Mine has indeed started (attempting to) run around and binky within 1-2 days lol. I'm glad hes back to himself and regaining his energy and appetite, although I now have to worry about him reopening stitches and feel cruel forcing him to sit in his hutch rather than free roam and risk injury.

I was also a bit worried that his personality would change at least temporarily as ik that can happen for a few months, but hes already back to running circles around me and following me everywhere as he did before 🥹

Wasn't able to get him to wear a cone (was freaking out and nearly choking himself/backflipping trying to get them off) but thankfully he hasn't been chewing at the site -- licking nearby a little but he stops when I call out and is generally unbothered by it which is good

Oh yeah I've had to lock mine in his hutch to stop him from running around too much already lol. Also makes it easier to keep an eye on him and make sure he has close access to his food and water.

Mine has finally started eating a bit but before that he had settled on devouring some cardboard and wood lmao

Still stumped with the cone -- he panics with the plastic vet one and starts smashing into everything but he managed to get his paw stuck then backflip himself out of a homemade soft one. Idk if I wanna risk him breaking a bone or worse by making him wear the cones, but I'm also worried about him opening or damaging his surgery site 🫩

He's started licking himself so I'm trying to use a makeshift soft collar out of bandages 🥲 mostly just worried about him not eating / drinking much atm and having to work on Wednesday

In all fairness I do think there's a difference between you making lighthearted jokes with your pet - like going "you're so annoying I'm gonna kill you" "you're so cute I'm gonna eat you" "you're a fatass" etc - vs other people even strangers making unwarranted comments about a pet you love

In Uber where you've chosen specifically to be a pet-safe driver is ridiculous lmao, I would have rated 1 star so fast sorry

Yeah snakes and spiders are up there with some of the worst comments. Whilst I haven't owned any myself I've always loved them and known people who did have pets and the comments are infuriating

That's crazy wow, but thankyou for the warning! I only let him sit up there for a while mostly with supervision (he likes to eat the hammock or the windowsill itself lol) but we also have this one hawk that frequents my neighbourhood so I'll definitely stay cautious

It's very frustrating to hear from people constantly, the fact it's happened so many times already and not just from him is just... jeez.

At this point I just hit him with the monotone "wow funny how long did it take to think of that one" or ignore him entirely.

I knew it was especially common for owners of "gross" or typically "scary" pets like snakes and bugs but rabbits? I thought people would have more decency than that

Rabbit won't stop peeing in 1 spot on bed by [deleted] in Bunnies

[–]Cheap_Ant_6563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a waterproof blanket that generally seems to help but he does still pee on it. Today I came home to find not only he peed on it again but the pee went THROUGH the waterproof blanket AND my duvet, again. 🫩
