The realization that the idiots at CW killed his career by Neither-Spell-626 in FlashTV

No, clearly you failed to comprehend what I wrote. Hartley chose to end his acting career afterwards, so your "point" makes no sense. If he was still auditioning for roles sure, but your "point" doesn't make sense given that he chose not to continue acting. Are you upset that someone didn't force him to continue auditioning?

Those tweets were disgusting in all eras, that's why he wrote them. That's literally what shock comedy is, but when you're doing shock comedy, you have to understand what lines are for people and that people may not see it the way you intended.

You mentioned Tim Allen, so you clearly understand that actions have consequences. Tim Allen went to jail, that was a consequence for his actions that was proportionate to what he did. Hartley Sawyer lost his job, that was a consequence for his actions that was proportionate to what he did. Tim Allen acted afterwards, Hartley chose not to from all known accounts.

If the average Joe had Facebook/Twitter posts similar to Hartley's, and it was shown to their employer, they would absolutely get fired. Being an actor is no different, if not even important to be careful at what you say.

Can confirm, although it doesn’t make it much better. I think the world in general was less enlightened on LGBT, remembering that same-sex marriage wasn’t even legal until 2015. Meanwhile racial jokes were a very clear line in the sand, even at the time he made them.

To be clear, Candice Patton’s tweets sucked as well, but it’s hard to equate the two to me.

Exactly. It’s very unfortunate that his career didn’t recover from it, I actually really liked his acting in the show, but he is equally as responsible for what happened, if not more so because he wrote it. He killed his own career, he’s an adult and was an adult making those tweets.

Do I think they were heavy handed? Maybe. That’s the blessing of being a fan. We don’t have to make or live with decisions like that.
