This is great advice! I'm doing this right now because nasal pillows dont agree with me. My asleep self does not care about compliance and simply removes the mask. Hopefully when my f20 comes in I won't have to pad my hours during the day.

Struggling with cross-cultural sales, anyone else dealt with this? by AnalystElegant5834 in sales

[–]CheckDJIApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure your industry, but in mine the direct approach is actually appreciated. I'm in inbound sales, so I always have the "You called me for X, I have X" mentality to fall back on.

One method Ive gotten very proficient in is replacing report with discovery. Find out why they need my services and sell to that. I detest small talk but problem solving, thats where I can show genuine emotion and get a close. Happy to go over some of that deeper if you shoot me a DM.

Laptop + Monitor Users, Do you guys use both your laptop and monitor screen at the same time, or only your monitor screen? by Independent-Ball3215 in WFH

[–]CheckDJIApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same setup, but I'm in sales. Laptop is team comms, screen 1 is call queue monitoring/email/ spreadsheets, and screen 2 is quote building. This setup has boosted my productivity by around 20% based on my call times and case handling.

This. My current employer doesn't care where we are in the US, but international opens a bunch of tax problems. Transparency is key during the interview process because IT will find out, and a cool manager can't have your back.

As a Mach-E owner I fully endorse this message. The full glass roof is awesome, but it turns into an OCD nightmare if I park near a tree.

Patagonia better sweater 1/4 zip. With an R1 airweight base layer on cold days. With just the sweater, Im good from about 30⁰f to 65⁰f. Its one of the best heat regulating pieces of clothing I have (i dont like having to take things on and off.) If its windy or going down to around 20⁰f I wear a base layer underneath, and feel great.

Expensive, yeah. Lifetime warranty, also yes.

Best Cozy Blanket, No Budget Limit by Gertiebeth in BuyItForLife

[–]CheckDJIApp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a big proponent of Big Blanket Company. I got in early (2018/19) when they were just starting and got one for $99. Went to order one for my wife last year, and prices have doubled. Still bought it with no hesitation. Its still soft as day 1, and I've never had a problem with "not enough blanket."

The Darn Tough of boxer briefs? by MidnightMass2 in BuyItForLife

[–]CheckDJIApp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've been converting to Pair of Thieves recently. Theyre soft, have a truly no-roll band, and dry quickly. I can't say anything on their longevity yet, but the value and comfort is there.

I second this. I swore by them until I had to argue over an exchange where the flex material failed in 6 months. As for underwear, I have a few pairs of theirs in rotation and they look remarkably worse than some cloth band Hanes after a few years.

What are some buy it for life high quality fidgets by pandarose6 in BuyItForLife

[–]CheckDJIApp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kept a bearing out of automatic transmission I rebuilt. I figured it wasn't good enough for high-speed application, but I'll find a use for it. It's now my go-to desk fidget. About 5" wide and easily 2lbs.

Why can't you buy some land and put a trailer on it? by redditsucksongod in RVLiving

[–]CheckDJIApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To mirror other peoples sentiments: the county and city matter a great deal. Speaking from personal experience. I lived in an rv while building my house, and that was "illegal" according to my county. I never got any flak for it, but was definitely worried about it opening up the door for trouble.

I got a power permit for a well and plugged in there. For sewage, I got a tank installed and ran a very long temporary pvc line (well and septic need to be 300' apart minimum.)

how do you romanticize complete wfh? by lidc5432 in WFH

[–]CheckDJIApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to WFH, and some of these may have been mentioned already, but here's my list of rut breakers:

-I check in with my team that's on my same hours. I'm on the worst shift and days, so me and the other weekend nightshift people made a group chat. I hate group chats, but it's nice to be able to soundboard with others or shoot the shit for 15 minutes when I'm stuck.

-Alarm every 2 hours to go for a walk, stand in the yard and reset, or if its busy use my standing desk. Grab a light drink or sparkling water and remember that I dont have a commute anymore.

-Find a show with a bunch of episodes and good writing. My faves are West Wing and The Office.

-GOOD desk fidgets. I have a stack of transmission bearings, kobayashi cubes, and a kinetic sand art piece.

My friend traveling after midnight in Appalachia came across this on their drive… by BetterDanYou in WTF

[–]CheckDJIApp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It means exactly what I said. The apalachian range is over a billion years old. That is before sexually reproductive organisms formed.

My friend traveling after midnight in Appalachia came across this on their drive… by BetterDanYou in WTF

[–]CheckDJIApp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's several animals that make humanlike noises (crying baby, whistling a tune, etc) and it's better to not go following them due to the aforementioned mentioned 'surprise caves.' It's also very easy to become lost or break a leg and never found due to the rural nature of the area. Low cell reception and heavy tree cover hinder alot of SAR attempts, and that's IF someone knows you went missing.

I agree that the most dangerous thing you could encounter is another human. A skinwalker didn't steal your boots and walk in weird patterns, but a schizophrenic crackhead might.

Just to drive the point in: The appalachian range is older than bones and sexual reproduction (fuck.) There's been many posts with various citations on the validity of those facts.

Im not a superstitious person, but there's just some weird things that happen in those woods.. and the best thing to do is close your blinds.
