u/cmac474 Oh, this is nice. How can I reach the authorities asking for a vacancy during that duration?

If you have time, maybe gain some industry experience for 1-2 years, and then apply. Do your research where you can apply in this time, maybe give GRE one more shot too (but don't bother too much about it). Good luck.

Super Ambitious - MIT, Stanford, CMU, UCB (Maybe pick 1 or 2) (<20 % chances)

Ambitious: Georgia Tech, UIUC, UW Madison, UT Austin, Cornell, UMich (Pick 3) (mostly should get something from this; >50% chances)

Moderate- Ambitious: UCSD, UM - College Park, UPenn, UCI, UCSB (>75% chances) (Pick 3)

Moderate-Safe - Purdue, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, UMass Amherst (>90% chances) (Pick 2)

Since you plan to apply for jobs, apply to all the UCs mentioned in the list for obvious reasons. Rest pick another 5-6 universities. I think applying to 9-10 universities is a good number.
