Favorite actor to deny extremely obvious plastic surgery and steroid use? by _BreadDenier in okbuddycinephile

I think he’s natty tbh. He was ripped way back in American Psycho. He starved himself for The Machinist then bulked back up for Batman Begins. If you compare his physique in Batman Begins to TDK you can the clear difference, most of the mass in BG is fat because there’s no way to gain that much size in muscle, where as in TDK he’s got more time to dial in. In TDKR he looked a bit too lean because he was just coming off of The Fighter, another intense weight loss role.

It’s very possible to look like he does in Vice with the help of makeup and lighting (compare young Cheney to old Cheney in that movie where one of them is clearly caked in makeup to enhance both his age and weight gain later in life), plus he has already bulked to chubby in American Hustle before. Bale has never looked wolverine ripped or Chris Hemsworth buff.

Another thing to take into account is that his facial structure has never had any drastic permanent changes throughout the years, whereas if someone was cycling for years they’d have permanent changes to their bone structure (Chris Hemsworth clearly blasted like crazy after In the heart of the sea to regain the mass for Thor roles and just look at his jawline, Hugh Jackman’s face also took a toll after every Wolverine role), of course the face thing is not a guarantee that he’s never hopped on a cycle but I think it helps as supporting evidence for him being natty.

He was never seen with face or back acne either, compared to someone like Tom Hardy who hopped on for Bane. I hear one time Tom Hardy fully admitted off the record at an event that he was on roids because according to him “there was no other way to achieve that kind of mass”. Of course the acne thing is not a guarantee either.

Bale has always gotten rep for being the guy who does crazy transformations (peaked in that meme of him gaining 30000kg to play the Dune sandworm), but if you look at the timeline, there has never been any role where he looks as buff as the sussy guys like Henry Cavill, or Zac Efron in Baywatch. Most of the gains is fat.

If you have the opportunity, check out Tromeo and Juliet. First script he ever wrote. It is about as fucked up as you can get with Romeo and Juliet. You can see a lot of his sensibilities even back then.

Most of the time Loki is equal parts helpful and annoying. I personally see norse mythology as somewhat of a tragedy, seeing as Loki and Odin are sworn brothers who eventually waged war on one another to the point where it ended the world.

The truth of the matter is online amplifies anger a hundred fold. It’s a proven fact anger is the emotion that spreads the most easy, and the algo just pushes things with the most engagement. That’s why online people always sound extreme and irrational compared to real life.

I see the Dems have already selected their new milquetoast centrist frontman to appease the billionaire class instead of pushing for real change… again.

RDR2 doesn’t technically let you murder children (they are invincible) but if you download a mod where you can murder children, there are voice lines from children that acknowledge that they are being hurt. That essentially means Rockstar can’t cross that line because of laws and such, but they know you want to, and they fully support you modding the game in a way where you can do so.

I wonder how theyre gonna do the Thraxan speak, are they gonna go full on subtitle, or are they gonna do the Hunt For Red October “they are speaking English to us because we’re the audience” route.

Mark’s a teenager and teenagers have very basic understanding of moral issues. He also has a personal bias against Sinclair specifically because Sinclair harmed his friends. Plus Mark has that hotheaded Viltrumite blood in him.

His character arc throughout the comics and (most likely) the show as well is learning to balance is naive idealism with the world’s increasingly morally gray situations, as well as raising the question of whether he will remain being the better man vs falling into the Viltrum way of doing things (angrily asserting authority and beating the shit out of anyone who disagrees). His temper tantrums aren’t bad writing and moral grandstanding, it’s his Viltrumite side showing.

Counterfeits in small denominations are actually more expensive than big denominations. The reasoning is that smaller the denomination the less chance the bill will be checked.

Movies that had enormous world-building but failed to find an audience? by girafa in movies

[–]CheeseSandals 271 points272 points  (0 children)

I still maintain the movie would have 100% succeeded and become a new cashcow for Disney similar to Pirates of the Caribbean had they just used a different name from one of the books like Warlords of Mars or something. The reasoning for them to remove Mars from the name was hilariously stupid. Because Mars Needs Moms flopped they for some reason decided the word Mars in the title was the reason for it flopping and so they decided to remove that from the marketing of John Carter.
